of people, who have admitted they left their children alone whilst out at a bar, or where a child has "disappeared"??

Clarence Mitchell RESIGNED his job as a government official to represent the McCanns.

I'm sorry but none of this sounds right to me, why have this couple so many high profile people backing them???? What is it about the McCanns???

I have to admit it is very strange! Mr. Mitchell is one of the many who have put themselves out to help the McCanns. Sir Richard Branson we are told has been in daily contact with them and they have one of the leading QC's advising them on their legal position.

Last night on ITV Sir Trevor McDonald weighed in with the most one sided television programme I have ever seen. It was supposedly looking at the 'evidence' the Portugese police claim to have against the McCanns, but in reality it was nothing more than a thinly veiled propaganda campaign against the Portugese authorities on behalf of the McCanns.

What has happened to real hard hitting investigative journalism?

The fact is the McCanns have not been charged with any crime as yet, so why are they going to such extraordinary lengths to publicise their plight? On the one hand they claim to want to get back to normality for the sake of the twins and yet they themselves are doing everything in their power to ensure that this is not possible by inviting the media to follow their every move and hiring PR people to raise their public profile. Sorry Gerry and Kate but you can't have it both ways!

If you want peace and quiet stop the self promotion.

But above all, whatever happens, I just hope they do not demean themselves in the future by succumbing to the temptation to profit from this tragedy by selling their story. This would tarnish not only their image but the memory of their lovely daughter Madeleine.

It is very strange that he was a journalist, started off on this case as a government representative, and now is seemingly privately employed by a benefactor.

I don't know whether it is common for the government to provide a PR consultant to individuals, a lot seem to have trouble getting basic embassy assistance.

Well done for the site!

Here it is just a bit that called my attention:

"The McCanns, both 39-year-old doctors, have hired lawyers in Portugal and England to defend them in case they are charged." - Am I wrong or they are just suspects and never been charged of anything?

But yes they should be charged with child neglect and the twins to get some other family that is an awful crime and nobody seems to understand that this is 2007 people it's not the 50's anymore that you could sleep with the windows opened.

Bigger the fear bigger the people...

Calling in these high profile people smacks of intimidation to me and I don't like it at all. It's how the Kennedys always behaved in the US.

The law should be able to take its course without interference. The case probably will never go to trial anyway because without evidence nobody will be charged. I just hope that Robert Murat won't be thought to be a softer target as the Briish Establishment does't seem interested in the fact that he may be innocent.

i won't be able to talk for the hundreds. yet i will element out that when a individual is accused of ANY kind of incorrect-doing, there'll consistently be people who've an opinion approximately it. Michael Le Vell may well be harmless and, for arguments sake, shall we anticipate that he's harmless and all quotes are brushed aside, there'll consistently be somebody who thinks he's accountable. there'll consistently be people who think of of this 2nd while they think of of him. for that reason by myself, he's completely tainted. He would have finished many staggering issues throughout the time of his existence and occupation, yet he will now be maximum remembered for one single 2nd, this one. accountable or harmless his existence is now defined by way of those criminal quotes. the solid he has or will accomplish will continuously be marred by way of this incident. while somebody remembers his television performances they'll describe him by way of fact here: "Do you undergo in techniques that guy who performed Kevin Webster on Coronation highway? That ummm.... Michael Le Vell, the guy who become accused of sexual attack? Hmm, i ask your self even if got here about to him.

well done on the link lol!!

i dont get it either, did they know these people before hand or was it since the publicity of madeleine?

im confused, WHY would clarence mitchell give up something hes obviously worked hard for for people that COULD very well have caused this in the first place.

and there goes richard branson splashing his cash around yet again.

why would they risk thier reputations for these people? they sure seem to have alot of faith in them!

im pretty sure had this happened to "normal" people that such high profile people wouldnt be so quick to help and faster to condemn!

strange eh ............

I think that, by backing the McCanns, what all this high profile people are doing is trying to protect someone or something else. The McCanns are nobody.

For Jack H.

They did not runaway from Portugal. They were advised to return immediately after the media allegations surfaced that they had something to do with it. If they HAD been wrongly arrested, the twins would have been taken into Portugese care. So they came home, and would have been willing to return to Portugal answer questions at any time with the twins now safely back in the UK in the care of their relatives.

Why so many PR people, rather than lawyers. And he must be getting paid a good whack that Mitchell. I think it is all to do with being middle class. Can you see anyone crawling out of the woodwork for Ben Needhams poor mum??

It's because they're white, upper-middle class professionals of course.

If this had happened to a couple of working-class chavs, everybody would have damned them and nobody would have helped their cause.

I think the whole thing is utterly disgusting.

probably because of people like the anti's - he just wants to let them know that he believes in them. If you believe in a strong cause - no matter what it may be - you should do what you can to help - if that's how he feels like he's helping then why do people care so much? I don't get it. You can't tell him where to donate his money

Why do you think, because of all of the c**p on sites like this. Let justice prevail as i said yesterday, all i ask is that a neglect investigation be launched, other than that, leave 'em alone and worry about Maddie.

You don't see ANYTHING about that poor lad Rhys Jones on this site, that is a travesty in itself.

I agree. It just doesn't make sense. The fact of them abandoning their children while they went out partying is all but forgotten in the spin and hype of this media circus. Congratulations on placing your link, It is something I have yet to learn.xx

Well he did say his expenses were met by one of the couple's generous backers. Could it pay more than government?

i think there ALL going to look very silly!!

to suggest its ludacrous that they are suspects is ridiculous...its standard proceedure isnt it for the police to suspect family members

Congrats on the link :)

The more high profile people they can fool into backing them up, the better it looks for them.

Let us not forget that the McCanns are middleclass wealthy doctors,! Counts for alot in todays society.

Down with the McCanns.

Have a nice day.
