Despite all the innuendos from the gutter press and their illegal phone hacking, that's all they have come up with "innuendos" but not a shred of evidence to prove the guilt of the McCanns. What this couple have suffered no parent should have to go through yet they have had little sympathy. Why? Could it be because they are a well educated and fairly well to do couple, unlike Sharron Mathews, or could it be because its a good story that sells papers and people still believe that if its in the paper then it must be true, even though the Leveson inquiry has shown how bad the only part of the media that is unregulated or should I say self regulated, can be.

The UK police have said there are almost 200 new leads (sightings) to follow and want the Portuguese police the reopen the case. The Portuguese also want to reopen the case but they have to get a court order first.

I know my answer will, as usual get a few thumbs down, this only proves to me how many people still believe what the papers say.

Here is a promise: If any evidence come to light to prove that the McCanns are involved in the disappearance of Maddie I will come on here and admit I was wrong. If it turns out the contrary is true I wonder how many of the lynch mob will do the same.

The McCanns could have the case reopened by phoning the Portugal Police ... blood and the scent of death.. cadaver.. was found in the apartment the car and some clothes .. dogs which belong to Martin Grime these dogs Eddie and Keela have never been wrong..At the moment the only people that can open this case is the McCanns themselves there is so many lies to this case I dont know why anybody who has read the Official Police Files could think of them as innocent..

Because the case will only be re-opened in order to pursue this narrow line of enquiry which is to search for an abductor and a 9 year old Madeleine McCann. That is simply a waste of time, money and resources.

I will support the re-opening of the case if if it going to be done with an open mind which means keeping all options on the table such as the very real possibility that Gerry & Kate McCann were direcly involved in the neglect, and cover-up surrounding the cirucmstances leading up to, and following, the disappearance of the child.

If they won't include that line of enquiry in a re-opened investigation then there's no point re-opening it.

This question is ridiculous. Those who suspect that the McCanns were involved in the disappearance of their daughter do want the case to be reopened. I would turn this question on its head: why don't the McCanns return to Portugal and ask for the case to be reopened? Perha[ps it's because they don't want to be subject to investigation and questioning which might incriminate them. Sorry, Skidoo, but these are the facts.

There is NO MORE EVIDENCE, this case is dead.

Scotland Yard's very wonky statement about 'possible lines of inquiry' is weak, and shows that they bought into 'giving hope' more than FACTS. Which is terrible policing.

And will back-fire, because the communication with the public is always reduced to factual statements, to prevent misunderstandings, wild goose chases tend to make the public lose faith in institutions.

And with the evidence we have now, this is unfortunately a wild goose chase.

Actually if you read the latest information, it's the Portuguese police who are now saying there's insufficient new evidence to reopen the case. I'm sure most of the 'armchair defectives' (lol) would be absolutely delighted to have this case reopened and some answers found, if they are to be found.

It's not all 'vicious speculative fun' you know. Some of us have questioning brains. And answers would be so welcome!!

I would be of the opinion that to reopen the case would be a complete waste of police time and tax payers money while the parents continue to obstruct the investigation, I do not know the parents are guilty the same as you do not know they are innocent. I am not posting statements in here saying they are guilty because I do not have enough evidence to back up such a claim, so kindly show me the evidence you have to back up your statement that they are innocent, put up or shut up

cos u cant prove they did anything until a body is found. so its going over the same old evidence which will not prove anything either way (ie if they parents did it or she was taken)

Too many theories and very little evidence yet the circus rolls on and on rediculous.

if the MacCanns are responsible for the disappearance of Maddie, where is her body? They did not have the time or opportunity to hide her body. This one fact makes me agree a third party abducted her
