Question:
Is Y!A just another way for the Government to keep an eye on us?

Recently we've heard a lot about the so called 'Big Brother' system, used by the Government to keep a watchful eye over everyone. So, have you ever wondered that the so called 'trolls' might be people working for the Government? And that Y!A was created by the Government? Just wondering.........

You wondered right.

Spying is so compelling and so tempting that if they can they will do it !!

I feel certain that there are eyes everywhere and that we are all being watched. . Only I am not one of them... . Or I could be.... ha ha ha :)

Why do you think the government has been encouraging the use of the internet and says it has already taken steps to make sure that soon the internet will be available to everyone? -Do you remember Blair's pledge that went something like this " WE'LL MAKE SURE THAT BY 2010 EVERY HOME WILL HAVE ACCESS TO BROADBAND" and not forgetting the recent "THE GOVERNMENT WILL PAY PEOPLE TO SUBSCRIBE TO BROADBAND" -- is it mere generosity ?

Unless the FBI wants to determine if 15 year old Mandy is a 5 or 6 on the "Hott" scale or what picture she should pick for her myspace, they probably wouldn't find anything.

There aren't enough educated Q/A's on here that they would be concerned about. There are more forums that they would find more important subjects.

You could start investigating by asking if anyone has ever had a post deleted that could be considered a threatening post to the government. ... Likely you'll find conspiracy theorists (like yourself?) on here. CT's are not the threats to the government they claim to be. ... Besides, what's the worst thing that could happen if they were keeping an eye on us through this program?

I'm sure it is read by someone working for the Government.

The only way we will know is when the flash stick containing all of the Q's & A's is found in the back of a taxi.

Wow "Helena of Troy" it seems as though you have opened , as they say , a bag of worms.

I really don't believe Y/A would be the platform for the government to meddle in. You need only read a number of answers in P&S to get so confused you would be questioning your own superiors after a short time,However just as in Troy we must "Beware of government bearing gifts":::))))xoxox

The most dangerous person to any government is the person who can think things out for themselves.Almost inevitably they come to the conclusion that the government that they live under is dishonest, insane and intolerable.

Yes, it is a useful open source of information for them.

The government is becoming more and more interested in monitoring and controlling our behaviour, as you must have noticed, and the more capability they have to do so, the better for them.

I don't think it's hyperbole to suggest that soon people will have chips implanted, which identify them, and can be used as a credit/debit card-your every move will be monitored.

But "if you've got nothing to hide, you've nothing to fear", a phrase which ranks alongside "I was only obeying orders" as a signifier of a fascist state mentality.

it is not my wish to insult you, so i hope that i will not - but i have heard this theory before, and i find it quite paranoid.

yahoo is more of a very lucrative way to make a living.

which does not say that federal employees do not spend some time here and on other forums, under the pretext of national security!!

i wondered just that in fact, and as for some who advocate killing a member of government or starting a riot perhaps that info is being passed to the security services.

You might be right-----some of the trolls on here are just non-intelligent enough to work for the government.

I've said this from day one. What do you think goes on at Menwith Hill near Harrogate and other such establishments like Fylingdales on the Yorkshire moors?

That's actually a really cool in-site on things...because it would be a chance for the government to know what all us lot think about and what interests use etc etc....im intrigued!! :)

Well, I would say to their faces what I say on here. They can only kill me once... If they do, I would be honored to be a martyr for the First Amendment.

i doubt it, the only information they will get is public opinion, its not as if we have any private information on here, as for facebook i dont have any personal information such as address or phone number on there either, i dont see what they would gain from keeping a watchful eye on my internet habits other than the twaddle i rant on about or my shopping habits. its not really of any importance.
2008-11-12 17:15:09 UTC
No Helena - Facebook is.

A site where people put their private details, list all their family and friends, pictures, clips, employment details and life history - sometimes even telephone numbers.......

The world governments must be rubbing their hands with glee. And we all willingly join it!!! (Not me)

It could be..

They traced terrorists by reading emails.

Also using cellphone calls.

One day we will have to do everything on a computer, when it's a cashless society.[heading that way already].
