Depends on who you love there.

I have seen beautiful landscapes in my life; so beautiful, they make you want to mess in your trousers. I can only speak of areas I am familiar with like superstition mountains in Arizona, USA. I don't know about Scottland. I know what is beautiful here though.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! It all depends on your personal preferences!

Born and raised in Scotland and am of course Scottish but my country is the UK.If Scotland were a true country, would it be the most beautiful country in the world?Well its kind of like those magazine that have top 10 most beautiful women in the world, beauty is subjective and while Beyonce, Kate Moss , Ariana Grande or Lucy liu are certainly attractive, there are millions of attrative women who have never doned the cover of a magazine. Those who insist that Scotland is (the) most beautiful, are usually A. not very well travelled and have no comparisions to make, or B. have traveled but spend so much time out of Scotland that they get all sentimental and foggy eyed about the homeland. No doubt about it that Scotland is beautiful in parts but so are are lots of places, Scotland is not so unique, I have infact see some places that look very similar in part that arent even in Europe, and I'm not just talking of Southern New zealand.

Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder. Scotland is beautiful, but I haven't yet visited all the countries in the world.

Not by a very long way.. iv seen places that make Scotland look drab in comparison. i will admit though that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and many people will have voted for Scotland will not have been to New Zealand or Argentina southern Chile or Peru.. where there are sight that are breath talking to say the very least.

I'm not going to argue with 'rough guide'.

its personal taste. My memories of scotland [in summer] involve cold, rain and midges, billions of them.

Edinburgh was nice, but - like central london - my main memory of it seems to involve shop after shop selling tourist tat.

would like to visit during the fringe, one year..................but...........in my own opinion, there are nicer, more friendly places around the world

Not all of it but there are many beauty spots. Other places have areas of beauty also e.g. The Brecon Beacons in Wales, the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Derbyshire countryside in England. I have never been to Ireland but have been told of it's beauty.

I haven't seen many other parts of the world outside the U.K. but have been to beautiful places in Austria and Switzerland.

Just as with other things in life though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and most of us will have seen beautiful places during some part of our lives.

It is certainly beautiful in some parts (excluding parts of the cities), but I would say parts of Canada and the Alps are better and someone else mentioned New Zealand. Possibly in a small area it my be (though New Zealand would challenge that) as in countries such as Canada and USA the beautiful bits are there but also there is a lot more drab scenery.

It is according to the readers of the Rough Guide. Remember the old saying; "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" - in other words "beauty" is subjective, and has very different values for different people.

For instance: think of all those chubby beauties portrayed by Rubens etc in times past. In modern times the "ideal woman" is skinny.

Nay laddie. Nepal is even better for hill country and the Himalayan mountains.

Only if you haven't been to New Zealand. But before the midges come out I'd put it in the top ten.

Yes if it wasn't for all the windmills that have littered it.

The people who mention the likes of Edinburgh or Glasgow have never seen the rest of Scotland. Put your boots on and get your lazy arses up the mountains and you will see the real Scotland. Absolutely stunning.

Difficult to judge, but on balance, Scotland is up in the top league, along with Norway, Ireland, Austria and France.

I live in Scotland, it's a beautiful country but......I wouldn't call it the most beautiful in my opinion. I think the most beautiful country is Canada and Alaska I know Alaska is a state of America but still most beautiful along with Canada.

In the south of the country, on the East side it gets very nice, especially if you cross the border into Nothumberland, then go south of Berwick on Tweed.

Yes but it's cold and wet most of the year. I prefer the sunny south and south west myself. Cornwall is scenic with sandy beaches and warm weather.
