Question:
Why are we playing games with the Russians?

Russia is the main supplier of uranium to Iran. Without it, Iran's nuclear program would be totally hopeless.

The key to the problem is understanding why the Russians supply the Iranians with uranium.

The reason:
It is leverage against the US insistence on installing interceptor missiles in Poland (and the radar in Czech Republic), which nullify the Russia's nuclear deterrent, (because although 10 missiles will not stop a Russian nuclear response, it is the beginning of installing a limitless number of interceptor missiles)…Kremlin also argues that it is a violation of the ABM treaty signed under President Nixon.

Our logic:

We install interceptor missiles so that we can shoot down any future nuclear missile from Iran that may threaten the West". Which, BTW, Russia does NOT believe.

Question:

If we DON'T install interceptor missiles in Europe, the Russians won't have the reason to supply Iran with uranium (Kremlin has made this clear that this is what is motivating them), if Iran has no uranium then they don't have a nuclear bomb with which to threaten anyone.

Therefore it seems that the "rationale" for installing the interceptor missiles is a “self fulfilling prophesy”,

* * * * *
Remember, President Bush very much wanted this interceptor missile system in the beginning of his first term (early in 2001), before Iran’s nuclear program was any kind of priority (9/11 momentarily changed his priorities, however).

Therefore do you think President Bush is actually creating the problems & justification for the interceptor system, or is agenda legitimate?? (If you say it is legitimate, give your logic instead of just talking out your azz)

Is the contractor for the interceptor missiles a Bush campaign contributor?

If all of your assumptions about Soviet motivations are correct, you make a logical point. I think, however, you're being a little myopic.

My own view is that we and Putin develop this system together (as he suggested 6 months or so ago), because I fear the consequences to US/Soviet relations, if we go it alone. I am convinced of the prudence of such a system (whether or not the big bad corporations make money on it---when will people get over that ridiculous prejudice?) because the future holds many dangers from what was once called the "Third World" including, but by no means limited to, Iran.

In the old days, it was one thing if religious sects or tyrants or other bullies shot bows and arrows at each other--who cared? Those same types, however, are now fully computerized, floating in "Black Gold", and their megalomaniac tendencies are only just beginning to be understood and, sadly, felt by the rest of the world. These are world preservation issues now. There is no such thing as a "regional conflict" any more.

That's why I think we need the system. I just hope we go about it the right way.

The anti-ballistic missle shield that Bush wants was actually proposed in the early 90's by Clinton. It was dropped like all the other anti-missle shields because of cost and accuracy. It would be much cheaper to befriend Russia or even buy all of thier uranium, instead of making a missle shield that may or may not work.

I'm not sure who the contractor for the ABM shield is, but there are only about 3 or 4 companies that have the technology and resouces to develop it, and they have all given money to Bush, and to be fair both Bill and Hilary Clinton as well.

Yes I do think King George (and the big Dick) are the problem. His corporate friends are getting super rich from this idiotic missle defense shield, which may be the reason for the next world war, as he has made us alot of enemies for his reckless decisions. The cold war was over until he blew our money for ridiculous crap. Makes me miss Nixon.

Simple answer to a long question. America nearly went to war with the Russians because they, the Russians, wanted to put missiles in Cuba, on their doorstep. So can you blame the Russians because America is trying to do the same thing in Poland ?

Putin is a crazy mother f*cker, so we kind of actually need some way to stop him if he launches the nukes. Not that I support Bush, but future emperor of the reunited soviet union Putin is actually a threat, like Achmanutjob accept he could make it through airport security.

Look, if something doesn't make sense, it is about one of two things:

1) Money

2) Power

I stopped caring about politics sometime ago because nothing ever really is as it seems.
