I know ISIS is a terrorist group with strong religious beliefs. I also know that they want Iraq and Syria, but then why are they in conflict with the U.S. A brief description of ISIS would be great THANKS :)

"ISIS" is DAESH, ISIL, IS, or Islamic State. I don't like calling it "Isis" as if it were a benevolent old Egyptian goddess. They like to be called Islamic State, so I call them DAESH.

DAESH is the most brutal and indiscriminate killer of all the extremist Islamist groups.

To define terms: An Islamist is one who wants the government to be controlled by Islam. Not all Islamists are vicious. Just as many countries have governments that officially sponsor one religion or another [many Roman Catholic], but tolerate all religions, so can it be with an Islam Islamist government.

An Islamist extremist is, as you would guess, one who will use extreme methods such as torture and murder of dissidents, rape, and destruction of culture in order to get power.

The mindset of the leaders will tend to set the tone for the rest. The leaders of DAESH are power-mad and sadistic. Many of the members are forced to join or be tortured and killed themselves. Others are seduced into thinking it will be a good cause. But there are those who join voluntarily too.

ISIS is a Murderous Terrorist Group- that uses Religion as a "Front" to justify it's fleeting Existence. They are the Plague carrying Vermin of the Middle East... -And should be dealt With- Accordingly. :o

It's a group that takes advantages of weak areas like Syria, Iraq, Libya and Egypt where there is political instability, lack of unity or chaos.

ISIS was a tool who was suppossed to use "religion" to do its creators bidding! Alas, it got a taste of power! Now it has its own agenda, that does NOT coincide with doing its "master's" bidding!

ISIS/ ISIL/

a foreign policy tool to overthrow President Assad of Syria. Started out splitting from Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda deemed ISIS too extreme!

After Bush destroyed Iraq, Al Qaeda entered to destabilize the country! Saddam Hussein kept Al Qaeda out.

Bush got rid of Hussein' Ba'ath party. This meant lots of people lost their lively hoods, who had joined the party just to get a job, like police, soldiers etc.

some of them joined ISIS.

The ISIS ideology is very close to S Arabia's.

ISIS is predominantly Sunni, its enemies everyone! It wants to rule like a 7 the century caliphate. For ISIS religion is a fig leaf! Just a tool to gain power.

Only when ISIS started to threaten US' oil interests in Iraq was it "deemed" an enemy. When ISIS entered Syria to overthrow Assad it was left well alone!

4 years on from when civil war ignited in Syria, antagonism against ISIS means Assad is still in power, there is a stalemate, because Syria' secular society is petrified if intolerant religious "nutters" gain power. Syria: 4 million have fled, over 6 million are displaced inside Syria, 500,000 have died.

US and its "allies" can NOT find any moderate opposition!

Originally dividing up Syria was seen a "prize", amongst those who backed funded, trained, and armed ISIS. ISIS' leader learnt his art in an US prison. ISIS was just a tool, but the endless bombing, and drones in the middle east gained it followers, thanks to its self promotion on social media, amongst European countries.

If US and a coalition of 60+ countries can't defeat it, it implies something. Iran (is Shia) / Russia/ and Syria are also required to defeat ISIS, but they are not welcomed.
