No... not 95%.

Around 33% of people fall below the poverty line.

When we remove bad politics and selfish officers today then India will become a superpower in 2020.

India is improving, but no where near a superpower as people said over a third are living under poverty. Combined India's population under poverty is worse than Sub-saharan Africa.

How can a country even consider itself a power if its struggling to provide the basic needs of its citizens.

India's economy nominally is ranked 9th in the world in 2011 and has now dropped out of the top 10 due to rapid depreciation of its currency.

India isn't going to be a superpower, at least not for a long long time.

Future is unpredictable but the present scenario proves to be a bit of challenge. If India wants to become a super power, it sure will be, the choice lies with the country's leaders.

Poverty and Super power status are two different things that our nation needs to address. It cannot show poverty as reason to slow down on the defense system and vice versa!

With Finance ministers like chidambaram elevating the taxes in each and every funds for the middle classification workers the poverty line is being raised to larger and better ranges. quickly an afternoon will come at the same time as in common words the MP"S MLA"S and Cinema Heroes will be above that line

Of course, one thing is that irrespective of poverty, economic condition is not worst as compared to superpower nation in recessions.

depends how u define super power it is only hyperbole , despite SUPERPOWER in aggregate due to humongous population per capita consumption would be well below even china even in 2030 .

secondly irt would be super power in consumption and not technical prowess and human development index . it is western capital which is driving economy and not indigenous capital
