Trayvon was standing his ground after being followed by some creepy guy.

The problem here is a stupid law that allows a person to put themselves into danger, and then kill their way out of it.

1) So what? People are not allowed to visit? New people can't move in? Zimmerman was able to recognize everyone who lived there?

2) Police are trained to confront people safely, also they are recognized as an authority figure. Zimmerman fails on both these counts. If Treyvon had been a threat then he is putting himself in danger. If he is not a threat then he is creating a situation he is not trained to deal with. He should have backed off.

3) If Zimmerman had not pushed the issue then there would have been no altercation. Again Zimmerman is at fault for creating the situation.

I really think the jury came to the right conclusion. the mistake everyone is making is saying that a Not Guilty verdict means that Zimmerman was innocent. No. It just means that there was a reasonable doubt of his guilt. And that is very different.

If Zimmerman had failed to get his gun out and Trayvon had managed to kill him - then I suspect that Trayvon would have been found not guilty too. - standing his ground after being accosted by some weird guy with a gun.

And that is why the "stand your ground" laws - a law meant to allow people to defend themselves in their homes - a law that has increased the amount of gun deaths in states that have passed such legislation - a law regularly used to acquit gang members who killed in gang related shootouts - needs to be seriously rewritten.

i think of Trayvon become aggravated that he become being harrassed via a stranger. I understand Zimmerman tried to seek him. that's an attack. There are 2 key themes right here: a million) Zimmerman initiated the disagreement, i've got faith he had no suitable to try this and become harrassing Travyon. (Trayvon become no longer following Zimmerman!). 2) Zimmerman meant to kill Trayvon. that element is obvious. If he did no longer intend to kill him why did he grab for his gun? this entire case stinks. i won't see how any jury could enable him off. It shows which you would be able to kill anybody interior the U. S., in case you act as a vigilante.

Simple: Trayvon felt threatened because a stranger who he never seen before was following him. The 911 dispatcher told him "not to follow him" but no he had to play cop. See where he ended up? The fact was glossed over due to the fact that the defense wanted to make Zimmerman the victim and Trayvon the aggressor. The reason why the prosecution did not produce the question was because well... the prosecution was simply not on there "A game." In modern sense Trayvon is the modern day Emmett Till. Racism is just something we cannot erase, it cannot be erased or go unnoticed. Look at Paula Deen.

Martin wasnt killed in cold blood. Zimmerman was defending himself in a fight with Martin.

If it would have been a killing in cold blood, then Zimmerman would not have been injured and he would have just walked right up and shot Martin. Theres the diffrence.

Martin should have just went home when he lost Zimmerman in the darkness. He wasnt scared, he wanted to fight thats why he stuck around.

The leftwing media does not want to show that white men and (so called white Hispanics) are allowed to defend themselves.

Treyvon was 6 inches taller, in better shape & was the aggressor.

did Zimmerman panic, sort of, but when your head is being slammed against a curb you better do anything you can before you pass out or get killed outright.

If Zimmerman had been a plainclothes police officer & Treyvon hit first do you think the cop would have pulled a gun if he was still being attacked?

I'm sick of the cry babies who say it was a white against black issue.

They have their leftist heads up their rectums.

Neither side is right. Technically, and legally, which the jury found to be so, Zimmerman was within his rights to kill Martin as he was afraid for his life.

Morally, Zimmerman was in the wrong by getting out of his car to maintain the pursuit and not wait for police. Police would have been able to stop and question a suspicious prowler, who in this case would have turned out to be a teenager with legitimate business there. Zimmerman let his own biases cloud his judgment.

One of the biggest questions as well: was Martin in the wrong by attacking Zimmerman? I believe that he had just as much right to defend himself against Zimmerman, feeling himself in danger. The problem is that he didn't have to confront Zimmerman. I think there were judgment lapses on both of their parts. Zimmerman wouldn't have had his head beaten in had he done any of a number of things (including announcing who he was to Martin to get Martin to talk to him, or just staying in his car like everyone else says). Martin could have (and should have!) phoned the police himself. He may have smoked weed before hand, so maybe he was afraid the police would find out and arrest him if they interviewed him. Who knows? At the end of the day, you got one over-zealous neighborhood watch in over his head and having to go to trial, and one dead kid who's had his past dredged into the public to vilify him. Bad mistakes on both of their parts lead to death and a lifetime of shame and regret.

And the mistakes didn't even stop there... the police should have done more to highlight what happened rather than look like they were covering up. The president probably shouldn't have weighed in on this. Instead of having a rational dialog about race and crime and gun use, we have... well, what we have right here.

I also like how they use a picture of Trayvon from when he was 12 to make him look like a innocent little kid

As an order of precedence, the first question is: "Why did Zimmerman continue following Trayvon after the Dispatcher told him not to?

Next, how would you feel being followed by a stranger at night?

Evidently, those of your ilk have convinced themselves that Trayvon had no right to stand his ground. Instead, he was to submit to Zimmerman's authorit-tye?

There's no such Unicorn as an "average White person." Your ignorance is showing in trying to stereotype all Whites as if they are a monolithic people - in order to validate your B.S.

@ Twit: I don't recall anything about "Trayvon peeking in windows." However, I do recall over 340 years of overt racial oppression - where not one Caucasian was arrested or jailed for countless murders, rapes, lynching and various assaults against the "Blackened". This is why we have an oxymoron called "Black History," because America was so prejudiced that it was afraid to write the Truth! Moreover, when did those of your ilk become the authories on racism - when it's true history isn't taught in classrooms across America?

Edit: It's a sad day for this Country as a new generation of knee-jerk reactionaries are well on their way towards repeating the errors of their predacessors!

"Whitened" America has forgiven its-self of its racist past, but this Crime Against Humanity will not go unpunished - or be swept under the rug just because the Truth turns you red with embarassment about how uncivilized your racist ancestors were!

While the past is the past; the problem is that a Social and Economic system was devised - in-which the post-effects of this socially constructed malaise remains. We hear and see it everyday of your posts in YA!, so it's quite delusional to deny what's visible on a daliy basis.

We are witnessing mass hysteria and the loss of mental stability by the general public.

I'm glad Zimmerman was not guilty. If my head was being smashed in the concrete I would've done the same thing. The media made it seem like Treyvon was a great kid who did nothing bad in his whole life. When in fact Trayvon had gotten in trouble for stealing and drugs before. Plus, he was a little over 18 and that makes him an adult. If I saw someone looking in peoples windows or wandering around aimlessly I would've done something as well. He probably should've stayed in the car, but he didn't, he wanted to do something about what was happening. I don't this it was a cold blooded murder at all. You could see it on Zimmermans face during the trial that he felt bad. It's glossed over because they want Zimmerman to look like the bad guy. To me, this was just self defense. Not to be racial, but if it would've been a white guy who was shot, this whole "cold blooded murder" thing wouldn't exist. Please do not take offense by that, I mean no harm, it's just my opinion. You're blowing it out of proportion, Treyvon could've handled it in a better way than that. Zimmerman didn't lay a finger on him until Treyvon did.

@D. Control, why would you be looking in someone windows and stuff at night? Zimmerman was apart of the neighborhood watch, so he was just doing his job. Like with the beatings on the bus in Florida, whites could just as easily say it was all a racial thing. So, how about instead of acting so naive, you take into consideration the fact that race WAS a huge part of what happened. Again, I mean no offense to anyone, but think about it. It wasn't like Treyvon stopped after one or two punches, no he gave Zimmerman a broken nose and a nearly smashed head from beating it into the concrete. Treyvon would not have stopped. So lets say Zimmerman was killed by Treyvon, then what would've happened? Exactly.

I feel sorry for the boy. I really do. If my nose was broken and pain, i probably would done the same thing. Would you?
