Question:
Why is there so much media coverage of the situation in Boston today and Monday?

What happened at the Boston Marathon is horrible and by no means am I downplaying the tragedy. But, I wondered why it sold to give more coverage on the news on Monday evening of the bombing that killed 3 then was given on the night of April 19, 1995 to the Oklahoma City Bombing that killed 169 people? I checked on the Vanderbilt Television News Archive website and there was no evening news on Monday night other then Boston Bombing Coverage on the main networks whereas on the day of the Oklahoma City Bombing there were reports of a gas attack in Japan, Richard Lugar entering the 96 presidential election, A trial in California, and one story on Friendly Fire Prevention in the Army.
So why was the Boston Marathon Bombing more important to cover then the Oklahoma City Bombing. Also, today there is back to back coverage on 2 of the 3 major networks as of 1:20PM EST like there was the day of the Newtown Shooting or the day of the 1994 Earthquake in Los Angeles. Whereas, when the search was on for the DC Snipers in 2002 there was a brief ABC News Special Report one night I recall but not all day coverage.
I wonder as I used to wonder what caused the long news coverage for certain stories. This is only the 2nd story I remember having 2 days of back to back coverage (the other being the 9/11 Attacks which was 4 straight days of coverage). That said, I know of times there was brief updates of coverage in the War on Terror, Various disasters, Hurricane Katrina, John F. Kennedy Jr.'s death, Florida Recount, etc....

I think your memory is a bit distorted.

OKC was in the headlines and was being talked about nonstop for months after it happened.

9/11 was practically all the news talked about for the first year after it happened. EVERY STORY mentioned 9/11.

Even without the additional events from last night and today, the Boston Bombing would have certainly been the same.

It's not a question of importance. This story has had continuing coverage because new developments have kept appearing, and because there are many more sources of information available to the news media.

As maximum consumers say, it´s a existence-style there, and US media DO checklist approximately Iraq, the earthquake and the bombs. yet of direction that form of element does not frequently take place every day in the U. S. thank God.

Your "research" seems less than comprehensive or scientific.
