about the bridge...?

i herd on yahoo answers that they think someone did this, caused the bridge to fall...has anyone herd of this?

Of course they will blame it on someone. From what I heard, the bridge was under repair the day before and was also labeled "needs to be replaced" awhile ago. So you have a bridge that politicians don't want to spend money on right away. Repairs are done in hopes nothing will happen for awhile. Now the bridge falls and the government, state, will end up paying to have the thing replaced and will have billions of dollars in law suits to pay on top of that. I've said it in other answers, we are at the mercy of our politicians and will get screwed.

People big on conspiracy theories have been flying that idea around the internet since it happened. I live in Minnesota and have traveled that bridge on several occasions. It was a 40 year old bridge that endures a lot of stress. It's a major route to the Metrodome, to the U of MN, to downtown Minneapolis, etc. etc. I think the original engineers underestimated the stress the bridge would have to endure. They assumed it would last approximately 50 years, but unfortunately their estimate seems to be a bit high.

I heard that most bridge collapses are bridges in water and that the flow of tons and tons of water weakens bridges so a bridge in flowing water that has weak structural points is more likely than other bridges to fail. Our infrastructure is aging and these things will occasionally happen.

They're not attributing it to terrorism right now, and the bridge was undergoing construction so it was probably just a horrible accident.



Anyway you'd think terrorists would go for a bigger target than a freeway in Minneapolis, no offense to anyone from there. Just sayin'.

There was information released that in 2005 the bridge had been inspected and was declared 'structurally deficient'. Therefore that presents the point of why was it not fixed since it is now 2007?

they say it wasn't terrorism but they are not ruling it out, plus, if it was a bomb or something there would have been a BOOM and fires but there wasn't.
