When is the last time you saw a five year old walk into McDonalds with their own money because they needed a toy fix?

Children don't choose what they eat, parents do. Until you educate the parents on the dangers of fast food, I don't see how a toy affects it one way or another.

I think toys, and also certain books should be banned!!!! Come on.....Should toys be banned! What country are we living in!? How do people not see a socialist movement here!?

NO, people need freedom to fail, so they can pick themselves up and do a better job next time! Simple!

Typical meddling government interference. Last time I looked, parents had the right to say "no" every once in a while. McDonalds happy meals are supposed to be an occasional treat, not a staple diet.

And whatever happened to the Land of the Free? Even in Islamist Saudi Arabia and communist China you get toys included with McDonalds happy meals, for f*cks sake. Trust good old California to lead the way in puritanism and dictatorship.

it say it should be up to the parents, not the government to say what we and our kids should and shouldn't be eating. shame on California for taking toys out of those kids hands. fast food places have done so for many years. you go to a collectible store, and you'll see those fast food toys at a pretty large price.

The government should stay out of it. I heard the tyranny unfold at the first following address at item 12. Dan Peddycord, the Director of Public Health talks about "right-sizing the environment" and how public policy rather than education is the best way to "help" families do the right things.

Sounds like the government getting their fingers into everything nowadays. Scary really.

Also, did you see the new list of foods to avoid because of all the pesticides on them? There was a list of 12 to include spinach, peaches, potatoes, apples, grapes, kale, cherries.

So, if fast food is bad for you, how about pesticide laced fruit and vegs??? Not everyone can afford organic food like they suggest.

This is not an issue of fast restaurants. People make choices. The parents should be held responsible for the foods their children eat. If they make the choice to not go to fast food restaurants, this wouldn't be a problem. The government has no right to infringe on our personal right. The law is not going to change anything. If parents continue to take their children to fast food restaurants, then the law is meaningless.

I love when the government puts there thumb up my a$$ and makes parenting decisions for me.Its great that our government is so involved.I'm hoping one day I can pay taxes so every worthless lazy dolt gets good healthcare.I would also like to see an increase in taxes so the entire country of Mexico can get a good education right here in America. One small step closer to socialism, weeehooo!!

well, the parents are responsible yes, but at the same time i do think that the toys act as a serious positive reinforcement for crappy food. if the parents actually did what they are meant to do and ensure their child eats properly and gets a happy meal once a week as a treat if they like, then the problems wouldnt be there.

but...i don't think that the government should do this. there are plenty of unhealthy foods that kids eat that don't have toys in them. i think there are better ways to do it, like education and a kick up the fat a*ss or maybe proper parenting. and it is kind of like nanny state - but then again alcohol cant be advertised til after a certain time and that is apparently for the 'sake of the children', and way too many kids are fat these days. so something needs to be done.

No.

The parents are responsible for what their kids eat.

The parents are the ones who get the income every month, so unless they cave in to every wish child dearest makes, they should know when to take their kids to a fast food restaurants and when not to.

Some toy is not hypnotizing the kid to go to the micky D ever day.

This is a parenting problem. If they didn't go to fast food joints the kids would never see this stuff.

If parents had enough Brains not to eat that junk and feed it to the children, You would not have asked the Question.
