About my recent Military Draft issue?

(a) What is "Selective Service"

(b) "He's 18 and lives in AZ. Will he ever get drafted into the military or have to do anything like that?"

By law, when a male turns the age of 18 they must register for Selective Service. What this is, is if there ever is a draft to take place, all men registered will be in the picking process. They take the youngest that are not in school first and work their way up the ladder.



I really don't think you should be too concerned as of yet. There is no talk about a draft being initialized.

Ask yourself WHY DOES THE US NEED A DRAFT BOARD READY & WAITING... if the US doesn't plan on needing to draft?

It would be in your best interet to read up on the history of Bill Clinton, he was pretty crafty (I suppose that is a reasonable word) at figuring out how to get out of his call to service during the draft for Vietnam



Also, read recent articles about how the military is falling short on "recruitment goals", that means there aren't enough persons volunteering for service to fulfill the needs/anticipated needs

every man has to sign up for the draft when they turn 18, unless there is a draft (which there hasn't been one since like the sixtys) they will not have to go anywhere..there ara enough men and women who sign up willingly so i dont see why they would be a draft in the near future ...
