By law, when a male turns the age of 18 they must register for Selective Service. What this is, is if there ever is a draft to take place, all men registered will be in the picking process. They take the youngest that are not in school first and work their way up the ladder.
I really don't think you should be too concerned as of yet. There is no talk about a draft being initialized.

Take everything said by EllisD
and add this:
The draft board was inactive after vietnam
In 2003 by order of Pres George W. Bush the draft board was re-instated
Ask yourself WHY DOES THE US NEED A DRAFT BOARD READY & WAITING... if the US doesn't plan on needing to draft?
So, it is, sadly, entirely possible that he could be called into military.
It would be in your best interet to read up on the history of Bill Clinton, he was pretty crafty (I suppose that is a reasonable word) at figuring out how to get out of his call to service during the draft for Vietnam
Also, read recent articles about how the military is falling short on "recruitment goals", that means there aren't enough persons volunteering for service to fulfill the needs/anticipated needs

every man has to sign up for the draft when they turn 18, unless there is a draft (which there hasn't been one since like the sixtys) they will not have to go anywhere..there ara enough men and women who sign up willingly so i dont see why they would be a draft in the near future ...

as some people in the international definitely use good judgment to respond to questions of this manner I could desire to factor out the information and assist you make an counseled selection and good judgment dictates that in case you proceed scuffling with in diverse international places and using your reserves to bypass to conflict time and time lower back and then extending the excursions they serve effortless experience and good judgment tells you that there ought to come a time once you run out of troops and because we not have keen enlistees as evidenced by using the unfavorable numbers recruited there'll faster of later must be a draft and whilst that occurs then the troops will come homestead that's the only distinction between Iraq and Vietnam in Vietnam there became a draft happening and that helped end that conflict
