Question:
Is it dumb of the pope to criticize the capitalist economic model?

I mean, he says that people should not practice birth control. If we don't practice birth control, surely we need an economic model based on greed to feed our uncontrolled increasing numbers. I mean, where's his big picture?

I think that a morally sound economic model only works when we humans decide to control our own populations. Look at any country that is a humanitarian disaster - we can see that their self-control is far far short of their economic ability.

In the capitalist model, the "company" is king. It used to be that you would get choice and innovation, but the companies are so big and global, that they have become the new unelected government and the new religion to worship.

As for birth control, the companies have told you that your freedom lies in controlling the population. They have told you have more choice. You don't need more brothers and sisters, you will be happy with an Xbox 360 instead.

My dear old dog&tunasan where are you since ages&why you donot ask you nice questios

second of course i believe as Jesues Christ says...give what to Ceasear to Ceaser&give what to God to God..if you really understand everyword the proper meningĀ¬ literlly..it Ceasear means your community..or your societ&what is a benefit to it&what is for God it means your own willing to give the poor&help them...so of course what is benefit to my society to have birth control&to better the standard of living for the people to live a decent welfared human life it is not againt the willing of God to organise our familiesĀ¬ gave birth to lot of children&be burden on others or make use of these children..the question is not to be pregnant by our willing..then we say we donot want this child because in such time it is a human being so it is good to let doctors&science help us &make people aware of the best thing...but we also should know that our faith with God enlighten our path&make his willing..please tell my friend the old dog that i send him or her my best greetings...nawal

Capitalism and free markets rose in the parts of Europe that dumped the Catholic Church. No matter how people spin it, traditional Catholicism, as the Pope knows it, and capitalism as we practice it, are not compatible.

I think he's just trying to stick with the Catholic values... Which consist of all the really old school stuff like no sex before marriage. If you are Catholic, then that's your model, but he doesnt speak for everyone.

I think you are comparing apples and oranges. AFAIK he is commenting on the lying and greed which caused the present economic crisis.
