I can't understand why they won't help with reconstruction - I know it's now a year but someone might remember something useful - unless the guilt of leaving the children alone would be too much to bear

mmm. It's a tough one!! I feel really awful to slag of the McCanns after all the heartache that they have had but s**t man it's true DON'T LEAVE YOUR BABIES ALONE. I stand by what I've always said from the start...it was a down right stupid thing to do. However it is something that they'll pay for for the rest of their lives. I'm not particularly interested in all the b*****it surrounding the case ie that TV programme last night etc. and I don't even care who's to blame (although I shall be very happy when Maddy's abductor is brought to justice (if he/she is)). All I want to see is a little girl safe and happy and back in the arms of her parents. I think they've learned their lesson. And plus I do believe that all the publicity is sometimes staged to play on the minds of the abductors. For example, you will notice in the early days that the little white cat belonging to Maddy was always somehow on show. I heard that this was a way of saying to the abductor/s "she doesn't belong to you". This is such a sad story. Let's all just hope and pray that she is safe wherever she is.

I agree that it is high time they stop shifting the blame. IT NEVER would have happened had they hired a sitter. It is not like they are blind to how to care for children they are BOTH doctors...

If I had it my way the two remaining children would have been investigated for neglect if not taken all together.. It is a sad day when we feel sorry for a family who caused the incident. I do feel very sad for lil madeline...

They parents should be in jail for neglect of all their children and should have some of the blame in the loss of madeline.

If you or I had left our 3 children under the age of 4 yrs old alone for 10 minutes and authorities found out there would be a full investigation and/or our children would be removed until we could proove we could attend them properly...

they are doctors it isn't as though they could not afford a sitter... they are lucky only one child disappeared that night.

Jon Gaunt spoiled all he said there by calling everyone morons but taking no particular side. To me, that renders his whole article pathetic.

I mean...

" At the same time, why don’t the Portuguese plods stop spinning and start analysing ....."

-- start analyzing what ? They have.... They analized the inconsistencies of the initial evidence given by the Tapas 9 to include the McCanns, ANALYZED it and made the McCanns prime suspects..... so what the hell is Gaunt talking about ?!

"... and either charge them formally or remove their official suspect status? " -- really, Gaunt,,,, is that your way to take the McCanns side like the rest of the British media are doing -- The Police investigation has been BLOCKED by the total lack of cooperation of the McCanns and the obstacles put in the PJ Police's way by the British government. What Gaunt REALLY means is .... 'let the McCanns off the hook ?'

" It’s nearly a year since little Madeleine went missing and the focus needs to return to her, not the other characters in this sorry saga. "

--- Jon Gaunt is the usaul moron (have you heard any of his moronic talk shows ? You have not missed much if you haven't .. THE FOCUS in Portugal is and has always been on Madeleine McCann.... The McCanns need to cooperate and tell us all what really happened that night... and they need to return to Portugal and COOPERATE at least by taking part in the reconstruction.... Not much to ask.

Let's not dodge the issue.... A crime has been committed.... the Police IN CHARGE of case has a right to follow their own line of enquiry which is not much different from what is done any other country in Europe.

Let's try not the have the issue dilluted for us..... Kid disappeared, already presumed dead.... crime committed PJ wants to interview.... prime suspects dodge the Portuguese Police every each way they can....

How can anyone blame the Portuguese Police ?

How would Scotland Yard deal with a total lack of cooperation of the prime suspects ? -Or the FBI ?

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT

" anne s " -- anne s is absolutely right in my view. From everything I read, see and perceive from about this case Gerry, not Kate, is guilty as hell. That guy HOLDS the key to the case. She found the kid missing, that's all.... Gerry holds

Kate's hand in a very tight and authoritatrian way.... he directs instruction to her on what and how to answer questions. That hand holding of his, firm.... tells me a lot. I think Kate is a victim and not the perpetrator. Gerry has acted as the iceman. Kate is a broken figure. I feel very sorry for her. It is Gerry I don't trust. He is the iceman in everything he says and does. DON'T FORGET HE WENT TO PLAY TENNIS THE DAY AFTER THE KID DISAPPEARED, lol ! The waiters who witnessed that said they were astonished to see the guy playing tennis !!!

Undoubtedly yes. They will make all the excuses in the book, shift the blame, when in fact it lies at their own door...

But it seems 'image' and 'popularity' have priority over all.

If they want this to end, they must return to Portugal and 'leave no stone unturned'...

Yea, it's crap. They're not accepting responsibility for what they've done, but how can you? It's the worst thing you can do as a supposedly good parent.

yes

they should

they said 'leave no stone unturned' yet won't help in a reconstruction

they should stop blaming others for a situation that is of their own making
