Question:
McCanns: Doesn’t Gordon Brown have a job to do? Why is he getting involved in a police investigation?

We read today that the Portuguese Police have raised concerns about the McCanns approach to the British Prime Minister to intervene in a criminal investigation.

A senior officer in the Portugese Police said “It is amazing to me that people in high positions are getting involved. I can’t think of any case in Portugal where this has happened... Doesn’t Gordon Brown have a job to do? Why is he getting involved in a police investigation? We have a job to do and need space in which to do it. This pressure from politicians is not helping the case... The investigation should be based on the facts in the case not on who can influence who,”

Do you agree with the Portugese Police - Doesn’t Gordon Brown have a job to do? Why is he getting involved in a police investigation?

Yes I do agree. I can't believe the audacity of those people! (McCanns) I have known nothing like it and why are they getting all this high profile help?? They could be guilty! It's for the police to decide and they should have a trial like all other suspects and have no preferential treatment... They disgust me...

there is certainly something not quite right on many levels regarding this case. Too much is being swept under the rug and its all hush hush.... whilst on the other side we have British trained cadaver dogs and dna evidence which is overlooked because of "spin", and its amazing who is coming out of the woodwork....

This case has long stopped being about a little neglected 3 year old for many.

I think the Police in portugal are right to be concerned. I had till now dismissed the "Freemason" angle or some other secret network, but now I'm not too sure....

This is one case where the truth MUST out, and I think there will be a lot more TRUTHS than just what happened to this little girl.

I read on another of your posts, that the McCann lawyers are turning to American cases to try to dismiss the cadaver dog evidence....interesting, but from what I can gather, most of the cases they suggest only make reference to cadaver dogs in the "obiter dictum", not enough to be binding on a court.

Your are right to be concerned if the PM is applying pressure in a possible criminal case. If that be the case, I hope the law lords in the HOL are watching closely...

By the way, what happened to Justine McGuiness?

NO member of the British government should be getting involved with this - regardless of WHO they are. If Gordon Brown decides to get inveigled in this, I think he'll have a very short career as PM. Why are these two running to all the big guns. They may not be doing it themselves but their agents have got to get their permission to do so. I said in the past that I wouldn't speculate as to their guilt or innocence in the likely death of their daughter - but every day reading and hearing about this kind of thing makes me wonder. I wouldn't have thought that innocent people would have to resort to this type of thing.

I think it's a disgrace, if it was a married couple on low income having a family break, and this happened to them, Richard Branson wouldn't have stumped up £100,000 for their legal fund, the likes of Gordon Brown, wouldn't be getting involved, he should stick to his job and let the Portuguese police do their job. I think the only reason they are getting the stick they are is because they are on to the McCann's. I think they are running scared, why if they are COMPLETELY INNOCENT, I know what I think and it isn't that.

Yes Gordon Brown does have a job to do......spin! He'll be wanting to get re-elected in a minute and ANYTHING he can do to win hearts and minds, he'll try!

With regard to powerful people interfering with the Police factual investigation; surely you are aware that it is not what you know (guilty or innocent) it's who you know. If your face fits, you can literally get away with murder.....and if it doesn't, you'll just get framed for it;that's how our justice system works isn't it...surely the same must be true of Portugal.

Everybody has a job to do but for some it's just sticking their oar in where it's not required. Oh, and don't some people just love getting involved with a police investigation that they know nothing about.

It is an absolute disgrace - why the hell if Gordon Brown getting involved. The more this kind of thing happens, the more I believe that they are actually guilty. They have something to hide.

Yep...irritates the crap out of me.

It must be a nightmare for the Portuguese police.

In no other circumstance has the prime minister got involved with a missing child case..and even Richard Branson has donated 100000 towards the legal costs.....seriously, where will it stop??

What about all the other missing children, there parents aren't 'suspects' yet they don't get high profile support or donations!!!!

With apogiesies if I am incorrect but I didn't think Gordon Brown WAS involved.

they want him to stop the extradition, of them to Portugal, that's why they are trying to convince him of their so called innocence.

its not him they have to convince, its a jury, and it will be a Portuguese Jury.

now good old Gordon will swing what ever way the voters feel, and contrary to the British media spinning bull s hit to the public, Gordon knows the vast majority of the voters are, not swallowing their lies.

thats why he sent out his little minion Clarence , to do his dirthy work for him, good post as usual .have a star

I am surprised he is staying in touch with the McCanns, they seem to be after all the high profile people.

That report does not say that Gordon Brown is involved.

Does it?

It's some fat little Portugeezer spouting his mouth off. Embarrassed because his police force are a total show up to his Nation.

The man currently in the role of Prime Minister of this country (although he has not been elected to that position) should perhaps spend his time on the more pressing concerns of his role, like lack of affordable housing, falling standards of education, integration, MRSA, the NHS, and gun crime to name just a few.

Portuguese police have a job to do , obviously, at the time they where in holiday mode, and fucked up. 30 odd kids have vanished in Portugal. one woman beaten up till she admitted to killing her child, something stinks. Portugal needs a kick up the backside. seems like there a big paedophile thing going on there, and why the police have not got on to this? well you ask me? something needs sorting out
