Question:
Can anyone explain why the Evening Standard are now deleting reader comments critical of the McCanns?

Earlier today I posted a complaint about the Evening Standard not publishing a comment I made on one of their stories. They had 7 published comments. 6 of them Pro-McCanns. 1 of them critical (although in a very mild way).

I now look at the same story and lo and behold, suddenly we don't have 7 reader comments, we have 6!

But which one was deleted .......... yes you guessed it already.

How absolutely pathetic that they are deleting the only critical comment on the McCanns.

Why don't the Evening Standard just publish a disclaimer under any story about the McCanns saying 'We are in the pockets of the McCanns ........'

I really don't know how the McCanns have the clout over the media that they do, but, I firmly believe that there's a lot more behind the scenes happening than we'll ever know, involving very powerful, influential people and a lot of big money.

Why would parents, just days after their daughter had gone missing, arm themselves with some of the biggest most expensive legal teams money can buy? WHY?

Something really stinks and I can't believe that there are other people that can't see this.

I thought for a while that my eyes were playing tricks. So they have deleted the one comment criticising the McCanns, what about all the others that did not get through at all? Unfortunately they not only had people of influence behind them they now have bucketfuls of money being chucked at them to spend on whatever they like. Cannot people see what is going on? Give to children's charities, give to the NSPCC give to anything but this so called Fund. It is not going to find Madeleine you might just as well flush it down the toilet.

I'm amazed at how some of the posts state that it is normal behaviour to leave your children while you have a meal on holiday! Am I alone in believing that Children are more important than that? There is something definitely strange about this whole affair.

I read on here yesterday that when the Evening Standard were ready to run the Express story about the McCanns facing the child neglect enquiry and it was pulled and replaced by a story saying McCanns furious over allegations.

It was allegedly pulled after contact from the McCanns lawyers.

This is one of the few places I know where critics are really allowed to be critical, everything else is up for potential slander issues, which is why I think they have gone beserk on here at times. Try and get anything negative printed before a trial and you are asking for a lawsuit

Only 6 last time I looked Dave s, and they did not publish mine either. I am currently unable to email out from Answers and am not notified when any of my contacts posts a question.

And this is supposed to be a free country? I thought that only a "D" notice could make papers do that and isn't that supposed to be something to do with national security? Might be wrong with the latter part - if I am apologies in advance.

Because libel is an offence and many publishers prefer not to take the risk. They will not publish anything that even gets close so that there is, they hope, a "margin of error".

You say that the negative comment was "mild". Given your track record, why should we believe that a normal person would describe it in the same way?

Perhaps by being pro Mc Cann the newspaper hopes to sell more copies, after all, these two manipulative people have fooled all the "rag" newspapers and some television stations into believing that they are innocent people who are distraught at the "disappearance" of their daughter

I still believe they are up to something fishy alright and they are afraid of being sued or caught in some other way. All their jogging and they can't run from the truth forever.

Hi Dave it's the real me here. I would like to know why this is happening what sort of hold do they have over the Media, who love to slate everyone else whether they be guilty or not what is so special about them that they are scared (the media scared) to say anything other than the truth. Cos there are loads of people who think the same as the majority of us on here

What a sham .............. It enrages me how the mccann coverage is only one sided .......

Yet when it is robert murat he is vilified .. what about his rights?

THE WHOLE THING IS A COVER UP AND THE PRESS ARE AIDING THE MCCANNS IN EVADING CHILD NEGLECT CHARGES

Maybe the Evening Standard has standards and is trying to avoid giving the likes of creeps like you a chance to air your viperish evil views.
