Question:
Could you explain some oddities about Steve Jobs's death?
2011-10-07 13:29:57 UTC
1. When he retired from the CEO of Apple, why did he use a letter of resignation, why didn't he personally ask the board of directors himself?

2. Steve Jobs dies, and we have no evidence other than Apple telling us in a letter.

3. Why did Steve Jobs look so fine at the WWDC 2011. He gave a whole presentation about iCloud with no signs of sickness.

So why did Steve Jobs suddenly disappear?

I smell a conspiracy theory coming on!

Which is actually very shocking to me. He's Steve Jobs not Michael Jackson.

That once again some idiots are looking for another bloody conspiracy theory. Pancreatic cancer has one of the highest mortality rates and actually he did pretty well lasting as long as he did. Often the survival rate from diagnosis to death is less than a year and often within 6 months. The man died, it's sad, he left a great legacy, he amassed a great fortune and he'll be remembered fondly by many.

Famous people aren't immune to death nor is there always a mystery surrounding it, except it seems for Americans who don't like to think that death just knocks on the door for these people the same as it does for common folks.

Hope fully there won't be some photo that emerges of his poor corpse, even if the theorists won't go away without it. While not a huge fan of Michael Jackson or his family, I found the posting of the pics of his dead body outside the arena of the courtroom, was an unnecessary intrusion into their privacy. It harks back to wanting the scraps of cloth from the executed corpses of prisoners past, the morbid fascination with images of death as bizarre media entertainment.

Jobs died, RIP

1. Because a letter is official, there is no record of a conversation.

2. Maybe the family asked them to make the announcement in their time of grief.

3. Cancer can take you downhill very quickly.

He didn't disappear, he died. I think he knew the end was on its way and resigned because of that.

He wrote a resignation letter......normal protocol.

He died and apple announced it.....what other evidence do you need.

He looked very unwell at the presentation a few months back.....frail think and tired.

He did not disappear he retired to die in peace.

Sadly there are kooks who think it is some kind if conspiracy theory (why I have no idea) and others make tasteles jokes.

It takes all sorts......sadly.

1. When i've left employment i've done both. I inform my boss, my colleagues and personal/HR in person, then follow up with a letter.

2. What evidence do you want, does he have to lie in state for you to believe? There are some things in life, you just have to take peoples word on. If you see him in Tesco's or Wallmart send me an email.

3. It's not unheard of for people to present and do a great job of doing so shortly prior to their death when they are very ill. For instance Randy Pausch's speech/presentation comes to mind[1].

Edit: Deighton, ha, ha, i like that: "a verbal resignation is not worth the paper it is written on" :D! Grouch, was funny :), i used to have a book about which has gone missing!
Huh?

[1] He no doubt told them he planned to step down, then gave them a letter to complete the formalities.

[2] Why would Apple lie about the death of their leading light? The man who turned them from a failing computer manufacturer to one of the world's leading companies?

[3] Here's a link to pictures taken just before he died. He don't look too healthy to me: http://sanfrancisco.ibtimes.com/articles/226460/20111006/steve-jobs-1955-2011-dead-how-cancer-took-toll-jobs-health-throughout-years-photos.htm#page9

i will say that I even have never enjoyed an Apple products, and function extremely been thoroughly against Apple and each thing they stood for. together as my evaluations of this agency will possibly not have been the main trustworthy or ultimate, i'm saddened by utilising the shortcoming of one in each of these good guy or woman in this international. i'm grateful for each thing he has further to this international and the lives he has touched. relax in peace Steve.

2. What do you want, a video of his autopsy? How morbid.

3. Terminal cancer is like that. You are pumped full of drugs. You get some remission. Then you die.

1) a verbal resignation isn't worth the paper it is written on

2) Why do you need 'proof' he is dead, legal formalities will be completed.

3) Sadly, he was photographed looking very frail not long ago.
