Because they are. Their leaders and other Muslims do not shout down and appear to go along with Muslim terrorism. Therefore they are they are as guilty as the perpetraters

Because many Americans (I can't speak for people of other countries, or even all Americans) actually knew little or nothing about Muslims or Islam before 9/11. Around the 15th of Sept., 2001, somebody said, I think seriously "Muslims-are they the ones who worship Buddha or what?".

The first thing some Americans heard about the Islamic faith was some things in the Koran that preach violence. Of course, while the Bible teaches love, if you take some passages, especially from the Old Testament out of context, you have a very warlike group of people. But when you look at some of the things Fundamentalist Christians say about other,non-fundamentalists, including Catholics; the way many people have misconceptions about Mormons, and others it is not surprising. a group from a different culture is put down. If it weren't for the terrorists, most people still would not know much about Muslims. How many people can name many Hindu gods? We haven't had a war against India.

After Pearl Harbor, Americans did not distinguish between the 'bad' Japanese and the 'good' (including Japanese Americans). They did not say some Germans were good and some were bad, although treated German Americans better than Japanese Americans. So in war time, and we are in a war, like it or not, the good and the bad get mixed together by some. It is easier.

Actually, while most present day terrorism is by Muslims and certainly 9/11 and other huge acts of terror have happened, the IRA, Irish or Northern Irish Catholics and their Protestant opponents committed many acts of terrorism between the 1960's and 1990's or maybe later. They were not Muslim or middle Eastern. There are terrorists from Sri Lanka (former Ceylon) who I don't believe are Islamic, but have not struck the US and possibly not Europe

I think people would be really ignorant and stupid to think all Muslims are terrorists. Most people just want to live their life and support their families. The problem starts when the religion takes over from common sense, and where some of the mosque have radicalised and are intolerant of other religions and customs. We have had Muslims living in the UK for year and years without any distrust.

9/11 and then the 7/7 bombings change peoples thinking when we saw Muslims celebrating on the street at the huge amount of deaths and we actually realised they wanted to live here but hated us. (again that is not all Muslims)

Hi Ibrahim

We had terrorists on both side of the religious divide in Northern Ireland. A friend from Dublin went to his daughter's graduation ceremony in Northern Ireland and he wasn't allowed to speak as everyone would have known he was from the South.

When there is conflict anywhere people get scared and self preservation is a primal condition.

Many of my neighbours are Muslims. They go to work, care for there children, complain about the UK weather, just like you and me.

I would have said that I am tolerant and nonjudgemental but I have to admit that shortly after the bombs exploded in the London underground I distanced myself from the young Asian lad who had a back pack at the train station. He was having a furious argument with someone on his mobile phone so I made sure I was on the opposite end of the train.

I mentioned this to my Muslim neighbour as a form of confession. She said she would have done the same.

Salaam, Shalom and Peace my friend.

Best wishes.

Depends on who you are questioning

Here in USA,

Mostly minorities support Muslims and help them with hate crime issues and everything.

Native American communities have helped, Japanese Americans, African Americans and so forth.

There is dominantly one group of people that seem to attack the Muslims as well as others.

But that is an issue that will probably never change for the most part.

We have had our civil rights issues in the past and they are still battling them today. People say race is a thing of the past but it's not. There too many bigots, ignorant folk out there that just do not want to call you equal nor give you a job or anything and have an illness that prevents them from accepting diversity.

So, this goes for basically all countries bigots, ignorants are dominant in, they'll badger one group, and move on to the next, and they are having tons of fun doing this to Muslims because their governments media are making it the social norm.

Most Muslims are not terrorists, but most terrorist acts reported by the media since 9-11 have been conducted by Muslims.

Most terrorists are Moslems.

We judge them by what they do.

They also issue death threats against writers, cartoonists and anyone not in full support of Islam.

Honour killings are mostly commited by Moslems in UK and US,

Moslems are quick to repudiate Moslems involvement in terrorism.

They are quick to accuse Israel and US and ignore the truth.

Time the Moslems showed they are against terrorism and not supporters of it - have you seen the cases of ''home grown terrorists in the west'' - Moslems who choose to follow the cult of terror.

Where is all the bad teaching coming from or is it bad teaching or is it the truth?

Because of george Bush and american media. As soon as 9/11 hapened, the american television stations all showed pictures of the two towers going down, along with pictures of moslems praying. They cemented these images in the minds of americans who now believe that all moslems are terrorists.

By comparison, although Britain has suffered through years of terrorism by the IRA, they never showed catholics praying in church at the same time as pictures of bomb attacks in Britain.

The american government had an agenda to make americans hate all moslems, to gain support for invasion of the Middle East, even when invading Iraq, which had nothing to do with anything, except that the US wanted to control it and wanted an excuse to invade.

If the US had invaded countries that were christian or hindu, there would be christain and hindu terrorists, but the US happens to be interested in invading countries that have oil and are largely moslem.

It all really goes back to the Crusades when the Church convinced many poor people and powerful knights to go off and kill muslims in the name of God.

The seed of hate was planted then and nurtured through the late struggles with the Ottoman Empire (Islamic).

Having said that, many people in the west assume wrongly that all muslims are coloured ie not white. Racism which we don't talk about in polite society feeds in there.

To make matters worse we find that the media influenced by guilt over the Holocaust and finaced by many pro Israeli lobbies, encourages the idea that Arabs (muslims) are mad and can't be reasoned with.

However, the sad and unavoidable fact is that in the name of Islam, a group of men hi-jacked and crashed three aircraft in 2001 and made the headlines in places that didn't even know where New York was.

Since then, a great many brutal and delusional people have spread a sea of blood and carnage over many countries in the name of Islam. They have done nothing to help muslims anywhere. They have simply given the media a lot of negative footage.

Bottom line, the Irish and Basque terrorists were better at PR and kept the war to the immediate battleground. Yes they committed atrocities but none as spectacular or brutal as 9/11.

Why do you ask such a stupid question, have you forgot about the Soho Bombers who having creamed off the fat of our land, had an English education, use of our hospitals, public health scheme and all the other benefits they could get.

Repaid us by strapping explosives to themselves went on the underground and blew Innocent people to death, that's one way to say thank you I know, and then you ask such a silly question.

Hmmm - Is there a troll around here?

Actually, you have it just a little backwards

The majority of people do not think all Muslims are Terrorists any more than they think all Colombians, or Mexicans, or Indonesians are terrorists

It's just that most terrorists are Muslim.

Now many of the terrorists in Columbia or Bolivia and Mexico are Christian (Catholic to be exact), but you never hear them claiming that they are "doing Gods will" as they ambush a troop convoy or torture a village elder to cow the peasants into supplying food and shelter.

All of which says there is something wrong with a religion that does not disavow people who use their religion to justify murder, mayhem, and general ugliness against another human being.

People like to hate and just now its fashionable to hate muslims. Muslims are not one unified people, they do not have to apologise for others muslims actions it's like expecting Presbyterians to apologise for the Catholic Terrorists in Northern Ireland.

Because we cannot have Yin without Yang.

It's a sick world we live in. All we need is love...but in the habits of social budgeting, many people purchase the things they want instead of investing in what they need. Love is gasoline, hate is a new dress.

Because some people are ignorant and don't realise that Islam is a worldwide religion with over a billion followers. Terrorists come from all walks of life, it doesn't necessarily have to have anything to do with religion!

This is NOT from just a few bad apples running around. It is a systematic way of life of the masses.

Dunno, maybe because of 9/11and 7/7? It was unhappy Jewish people trying to kill us was it? Perhaps if some of the normal muslims spoke out against the fantatical ones, people would be more inclined not to share this view.

1.pure willing ignorance

2.even if the"moderates"did speak out against the extremists what difference would that make?

3.the same people would continue the say the same things against muslims anyway!
2010-08-12 17:22:49 UTC
because the acts are carried out in the name of islam, because islam fails to quickly condemn terrorist attacks carried outin its name - rather some imams of influence try to justify the actions, because we SAW the people celebrating in the streets over the 9/11 attacks and the 7/7 attacks, because you call for the head of a danish cartoonist for creating a cartoon, because you choose to installyour latest New York mosque within a minutes walk of ground zero.

muslims love to tell us that its religion is one of peace, but we are wise - we know that actions speak louder than words. we are aware of islamic tactics like taqqiya and the impact they can have, we saw how islamic attitudes and calls for sharia law caused major problems in the former yugoslavia, because islam denies that their terrorist problem is THEIR terrorist problem

is that enough, i really could go on

26 November 2008 – Muslim extremists kill at least 174 people and wound numerous others in a series of coordinated attacks on India's largest city and financial capital, Mumbai. A group calling itself the Deccan Mujaheddin claims responsibility, however, the government of India suspects Islamic terrorists based in Pakistan are responsible. Ajmal Kasab, one of the terrorists, was caught alive.

So, I suppose when muslims stop doing terrorism, they'll lose that reputation. (Which, incidentally the rest of the Muslims wouldn't share if they demonstrated even a little bit of disapproval of their terrorist brothers.)

Try as I do to give people the benefit of the doubt -- it's almost impossible to give Muslims the benefit of the doubt.
