Cannabis is not dangerous to those of us who are "normal" and in a sound state of mind. Ive smoked it for years and am no different to how i used to be before!
What she says about binge smoking is a blatant lie, if you smoke to much weed you whitey and throw up, its not a pleasant experience and prevents you binge smoking. You possibly could pass out from smoking too much aswell.
If you are predisposed to mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, cannabis, especially skunk, is dangerous. However, to these people, alcohol is just as likely to trigger mental disorders! Cannabis, to the huge majority, is not going to trigger these sorts of disorders or illnesses, it is merely a risk factor for those who are predisposed (i.e. have schizophrenia in their bloodline).
Another argument is that those suffering from mental illness are more likely to use illegal drugs, including cannabis, to "ease" the effects of their illness.
I think, if cannabis was legalised, it would lose the stigma of it being illegal and remove some of the negative aspects of it, such as paranoia from being stopped and searched or being caught smoking it. When i was in Amsterdam, although it is technically still illegal under Dutch law, it is widely sold in coffee shops and the police have a very tolerant attitude - it made smoking cannabis a much more enjoyable experience.
If cannabis was made legal - hashish, cannabis resin, would be of a higher quality and easily available. This, in my opinion, is better than skunk, however in the UK at the moment it is difficult to get anything but "soapbar hash" cut with all sorts of stuff from plastic to rubber. I think more people would smoke this if it was readily avaiable in high quality forms.
I think the government is being reactionary and has formed its evidence from its own opinion, rather than the other way round. I think it will make more innocent citizens criminals and the attitude of intolerance towards drug use will be detrimental to our country.
Most answers on here are unresearched and ill informed, no-one really reads up on websites before they post poorly informed opinion. It is merely the opinions of the government and the press they repeat believing it regardless - rather than understanding that these laws and stories are made to produce headlines and votes, or perhaps to change the countrys focus away from labours dismal electoral performance?
Cannabis has various medical uses too - marinol is a product which contains THC from cannabis. Why cant we self-medicate? has cannabis ever killed anyone? is cannabis really as dangerous as methamphetamine or anabolic steroids?
