Cannabis back to Class B?

Cannabis is not dangerous to those of us who are "normal" and in a sound state of mind. Ive smoked it for years and am no different to how i used to be before!

What she says about binge smoking is a blatant lie, if you smoke to much weed you whitey and throw up, its not a pleasant experience and prevents you binge smoking. You possibly could pass out from smoking too much aswell.

If you are predisposed to mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, cannabis, especially skunk, is dangerous. However, to these people, alcohol is just as likely to trigger mental disorders! Cannabis, to the huge majority, is not going to trigger these sorts of disorders or illnesses, it is merely a risk factor for those who are predisposed (i.e. have schizophrenia in their bloodline).

Another argument is that those suffering from mental illness are more likely to use illegal drugs, including cannabis, to "ease" the effects of their illness.

I think, if cannabis was legalised, it would lose the stigma of it being illegal and remove some of the negative aspects of it, such as paranoia from being stopped and searched or being caught smoking it. When i was in Amsterdam, although it is technically still illegal under Dutch law, it is widely sold in coffee shops and the police have a very tolerant attitude - it made smoking cannabis a much more enjoyable experience.

If cannabis was made legal - hashish, cannabis resin, would be of a higher quality and easily available. This, in my opinion, is better than skunk, however in the UK at the moment it is difficult to get anything but "soapbar hash" cut with all sorts of stuff from plastic to rubber. I think more people would smoke this if it was readily avaiable in high quality forms.

I think the government is being reactionary and has formed its evidence from its own opinion, rather than the other way round. I think it will make more innocent citizens criminals and the attitude of intolerance towards drug use will be detrimental to our country.

Most answers on here are unresearched and ill informed, no-one really reads up on websites before they post poorly informed opinion. It is merely the opinions of the government and the press they repeat believing it regardless - rather than understanding that these laws and stories are made to produce headlines and votes, or perhaps to change the countrys focus away from labours dismal electoral performance?

Cannabis has various medical uses too - marinol is a product which contains THC from cannabis. Why cant we self-medicate? has cannabis ever killed anyone? is cannabis really as dangerous as methamphetamine or anabolic steroids?

I'm with you!!!!

Are you a 'well' seasoned cannabis user?

I remember a time when alcohol was illegal in the USA, and that didn't last too many years......lots of 'boot-legg'n' goings on back then!!

Our governments are going in the wrong direction!!!

I'm a human being. Human beings are all equal. There's a herb that grows in the ground naturally that I like to smoke which harms nobody. If all humans are equal, then why is another human being telling me I'm not allowed to smoke it? I believe it's that simple. Every attempt at propaganda by the government loses the respect of more and more people. Eventually Whether it's regarding canabis use, Iraqistan, taxes etc, there will come a point where the vast majority won't listen.

I think you may be right.

The worst thing of all though is the self-righteous people who know nothing about it and don't waste a heartbeat in telling us all how shameful cannabis use is and how users deserve to be locked up for life. It was bad enough when the smoking ban came in.

I think you've smoked a bit too much of it to be honest mate.

I agree that hashish, in spite of its wellness hazards must be downgraded through advantages it could have on different scientific issues. i think of that devolving capacity over this to the ecu nevertheless is stupid and that the united kingdom ought to come to a determination if it may be downgraded or no longer. in basic terms a observe, if the ecu has capacity over hashish, the Holland does not have the capacity to have its tolerant rules on the subject as different ecu international locations are no longer that forgiving of its use.

Pretty much everyone I think, including the Liberal Democrat home affairs guy Chris Huhne who said as its advice had been disregarded, ministers should disband the advisory council of experts and replace it with an advisory council of "tabloid newspaper editors" and even Brown's own MPs think he's being an idiot. Labour MP Chris Mullin, who was chairman of the Commons home affairs select committee when it recommended that cannabis was downgraded to class C, said: "The government should follow the advice of the experts rather than that of the tabloids."

I think it's ridiculous to have an independent set of experts saying one thing and then the government doing something different.

EDIT: I don't smoke the stuff myself (or normal cigarettes for that matter) it still seems foolish to keep moving it backwards and forwards (especially against the advice of experts)

Doesn't the government realise that Skunk is the problem here? If people had more choice when they went to a dealer than homegrown skunk or dreaded half weed half plastic bar then people would be able to smoke the one which would be least harmful.

The government has no clue when it comes to cannabis. I no longer smoke it but when I did I could see how superhigh skunk is compared to other blends. Our jails are already full to the rim and now imprisoning cannabis users will let more rapists have a cushy sentence.

Holland and Los Angeles has it perfectly right. They have dealt with it the way it should be. People would get bored of smoking it if it was completely freely available. It would lose all its taboo and become as fascinating as having a cup of coffee.

As much as I don't like the man he did not, on this occasion, do a U Turn. The drug was lowered to class C when it was much less potent than it is now.

Firstly you are out of order calling people ignorant just because they don't agree with you.

I for one am not with you nor do I read the Daily Mail or expect ten points for my opinion!

Completely agree with you, and Mattyh makes a good case.

I smoked weed for 45 years, I gave it up last year without any problems. I never experienced psychosis, paranoia or other mental health issues, and I have no health problems relating to my usage.

All drugs should be legalised.. People are going to smoke weed, snort coke and inject skag no matter if its legal or not.. Lets make it taxable and cheaper to buy from legitimate sources where quality is guaranteed , rather than having scum bags, mugging and robbing people, so they can buy it off even bigger scum bag pushers. If they want to kill themselves let them
