Recent Current Event Issue??????

i have to write a paper on a recent current event issue that has happened within the last two years. the current event should be something that is pretty big, like been on the news and stuff. we then have to put what someone from the past and future would think of this event. i cannot think of anything good to write about though! so please give me some big events that have happened within the last two years!

You could write something about the Macarthur park incident of may first. A peaceful protest was crushed in the US. A country that claims having "freedom of speech".
