He's trying to placate the masses, but it's not going to work. People have got wise to this mass immigration and what is actually behind it. They are the only votes he's likely to get. There is less social housing because they were sold off under Thatcher. She wanted people to "self help" whatever that was, the word "help" gives the false impression that you are improving your situation but are actually going nowhere.



Her scheme was called "the right to buy" and then get a mortgage due to the astronomical soar in property prices which she caused to make people homeless (it gave her kick, many would like to do the same!)

you're forgetting the houses of parliament lol. Actually there are plenty of dilapidated run down empty houses and some even with squatters in. Surely its better to renovate these first without building yet more sardine houses. The other solution is to give all newcomers a tent in the Pennines.
