Question:
The best way of tackling the BNP is to start listening to those who vote for it?
?

Would you agree?
In the European parliament elections (in UK) it won almost a million votes and had two candidates elected to Strasbourg so not to listen to these voters and say they should be silenced is not democratic is it? We should not be afraid to debate with anyone- . If a party is extreme then they cannot be democratic so therefore should not expect the same rights as one that is, but it is better to listen and then you can able defend your own viewpoint and know why so many of the public felt they should vote for an extreme party!

I agree with you. The BNP over the years have not gained popularity but now they appear in the papers daily, what a good advertisement for something some people want to see banned.

The mainstream parties, generals, churchmen have all slagged them off recently because they seem to be worried that because the electorate are so sick of the mainstream ignoring them they are turning to alternatives.

Its not just white working class - it is the middleclass white and other ethnic groups who are showing interest in turning away from mainstream parties.

History can repeat itself - where there is a vacuum in desperation the electorate will vote for any johnny come lately who say they have the cure for societies ills.

The mainstream political elite have ignored the electorate for so long now they dont know who they really are anymore.

They have become the princes and princesses of their own little world in the Palace of Westminster with all their courtiers prancing around them. Who will shout the emperor has no clothes.

If the main political parties had LISTENED to the people of Britain there would be no need for the BNP

Patriotism has been turned into a racial crime and thousands of patriotic people both black and white have turned to the BNP. People do not want mass immigration, islamisation and the loss of our sovereignty to the EU. We have been sold out for too long and the BNP are the only party that seems to have the answer.

Blame the mainstream parties for abandoning the decent people of Britain.

I voted BNP in the European elections. I intend, at the moment, to vote BNP in the General Election. My mind won't be changed by people throwing eggs at them, or holding violent protests to stop them being heard, or calling them Nazis. What could possibly change my mind about who I vote for is listening to politicians debate policies with each other, especially on the issues that I am most concerned about.

Last time I tried to listen to a BNP member, I got called every racist word under the sun.

As long as the BNP have hot headed members like this in their party? the BNP will not get much further.

I am happy to discuss the problem of immigration and the erosion of identity, but if the reply is a stab through the heart or crap thrown through someones letterbox, then expect to be silenced.

oh! and history time and time again shows what happens if you let the extreme right get their way. So the left, center and god knows who else have good reason to avoid, silence and slander such disgusting views.

What you advocate is very reasonable and what you would expect in a democracy. Those who vote for the BNP are very concerned that, slowly but surely, our cities and towns are being transformed into extentions of Cairo, Delhi, Mumbai, Damascus, Karachi, Instanbul, etc. We are not just talking about a small quaint area of town such a Chinatown where tourists and locals can pop into and then pop out back into the host culture once they leave it. Now, everywhere is being transformed into downtown Culcutta. Large Hindoo temples and minarets dominate our landscapes and every street corner spots a shop spilling over into the pavement with plantains, okra, etc.

Having said that, the agenda of the BNP and its members are laced with undertows of violence, hate and yobbishness. It's the party that give succour to people who indiscriminately spit on people just bacause they look different from them. In fact such people do more than that, often sending their children (can't be arrested) to rob, harass, mug peaceable, good, legal immigrants who, ironically, love and support the British way of life. We have all seen them in action in many documentaries gnashing their teeth and baring their fists at all and sundry. One cannot support such a party until it condemns such people and actions. When we see the BNP sending in their heavies to "sort" out the louts in those estates (the police seem inpotent) maybe we can begin to listen to what they have to say.

Unfortunately, they seems to be no politician from the major parties who is willing to listen to the concerns of the "silent majority" and take up the cause but at the same time denouncing the extreme right agenda. Our parties seem to operate on the basis of some wishy-washy vision of melting-pot Britain where anything ethinic goes and is preferred to what we used to have. They speak about equality, but planning permission for a mosque is easier than one for a church, a veil or a turban is acceptable but a cross is not, Sharia law can take precedence over the law of the land. It's time for some real world politics.

What on earth is up with the three main parties, that is my issue.

We all know I can't stand the BNP but when they got their seats, we said they'll show themselves up which they have. However, it seems this is enough for the three main parties to not see them as a threat.

What aren't they addressing what people want addressed? This being immigration. Why won't they address it?

Don't deny the BNP their freedom of speech otherwise it's not democratic and we are just as bad as them.

Listening to the Nazis didn't do any good but there's enough people out there who know what the BNP stand for and there's enough who say they only vote to kick other parties up the jacksy.

Call your local councillors or MPPs and register a complaint. Your votes have power but committees have power too. Make sure your heard at the local level IF it doesn't get to the top then there is a problem with the local that you really trusted.

by debating with parties is the only way one can find out about them, look at Sarah Palin last year the republicans in the US wanted to keep her away from any debates and we all know why, because she was useless the same is with lots of politicians they cannot debate at all.

By not having the BNP guys in debates lets them off way to easy to just give their sound bites without any reply. which suits them really since they are not forced to reveal the thinking behind policies.

Plato, i think it's immature and stupid not to listen to them. How can anyone really know what's going on in the BNP if they summarily dismiss the group as being racist loonies? Personally i dislike what they stand for and the leaders are just too awful for words but it's better to understand the devil you know than the devil you don't. One thing i would totally support them in is their opinion that our borders were opened by Labour allowing the absolute dregs to come here from Eastern European jails - they were given money in their own countries to go! We hadn't any checks in place, they came in their droves, all young men, no women anywhere to be seen. No police surveillance because we didn't even have criminal record checks - just let them in! As far as i'm concerned Griffin and his pals can shout this from the roof tops and maybe someone else may be interested enough to do something about it!

The best - in fact the only - answer to nonsense is sense.

Silencing the BNP ("denying them a platform") only creates the illusion that we are afraid of what they have to say. If we do not hear them, we cannot answer them, but the whispering will still go on.

To counter them effectively they should be allowed to speak, and they must be answered. You have only truly won an argument when you have won it against all your opponent has to say, You have only won a political argument (this one in particular) when you have met and responded to the concerns which lead some people - in my view erroneously - to support the BNP.

Using force, using direct action and trying to censor their views will only strengthen the position of this unpleasant mob.

Thatcher tried to stifle the IRA by denying them 'the oxygen of publicity'. If you're as old as me, you probably recall gerry adams voice not being allowed to be broadcast on TV,.... everything he said, had to be reported second-hand - sometimes by a voice-over just repeating his exact words.

censorship doesnt work. you have to allow the idiots to speak and then counter their words with intelligent discussion.

allow the BNP to speak... address the concerns of their supporters - then we will see the BNP die out except for a few die-hard ignorant racist and retarded individuals

yes

instead those opposed to the bnp resort to insulting those who vote for them

it shows the intolerance of those who disagree with the bnp......the bnp seems to bring out the fascist in many of its opponents

If the main stream parties listened to ordinary people, there would be no need for the BNP.

David Cameron is so in touch with us that he has selected a muslim to represen the Tories in the BNP interview.

That is why people vote for the BNP.

Open dscussion and critical thinking are the answer. Unfortunately, they batetn on people who don't know how to do both and appeal to unthinking prejudice.

tackle the bnp by making them wear yellow stars on their clothes

then round them all up and put them in camps etc.

To be honest, I'm sort of sick of listening to the people who vote for it. They are ignorant imbeciles with a warped view of the world. Maybe, having listened to them, it's time to tell them to shut up and get some kind of perspective on the real world. Listening to the Nazis never did anyone any good, after all.

The BNP will win, i don't live in England but it is true, your thumbs down to the answer above proves hows scared you guys are.

As far as extreme view's go, i'm sure if Churchill was alive he'd kill himself at how far left the country he sent men to die for has become.

Give me thumbs down just to prove to me that you are SCARED of the BNP and YOU know deep down inside that immigration has DESTROYED Britain, to deny it is to admit you're blind.

Remember thumbs down from you and your kind is thumbs UP from normal people, which by far outnumber YOU.

But what is there to listen to?

We already know what the BNP

stands for and we SHOULD

know that the people who vote

for them ARE RACISTS.

All we are going to hear are lies.

How they 'appal the BNP' but

'something needs to be done

about immigration'.

How they 'don't hate anyone' but

'whites are not being heard'.

It goes on. But bottom line is

they MUST BE RACIST otherwise

why vote for them?

There were and are other choices.

As I said all we're going to hear are

lies.
