Question:
Can Gordon Brown do anything right?
2009-08-22 04:37:34 UTC
It strikes me that Gordon Brown is a little incompetent eh? Not only did he allow the Scots to disgrace the Uk by releasing al-Megrahi he even embarrassed all of us by sending a mealy mouthed letter to Colonel Qaddafi asking him not to allow scenes of triumphalism.

Well that worked didn't it Gordon you utter moron?

(while i'm at it, for all those applauding the release on 'compassionate grounds, would you feel the same about allowing Ian Huntley out if he was dying?)

Comparing the Ian Huntley case to this is pointless.

Ian Huntley was proved, beyond a shadow of doubt, to have committed the crime he was convicted of.

Al-Megrahi has claimed innocence since day one & many people, including leading lawyers, policemen & even the father of one of the victims (Jim Swire) have publicly stated they they also think he was used as a scapegoat by the real bombers.

Surely, by sending him home to die, this whole thing proves that we are a compassionate not vengeful nation & therefore makes us the better people.

Anyway, whats done is done. Time to move on. The guy will be dead soon.

Nice people aren't they, the appeasers?

Imagine if this country had Brown in charge in 1939 or that windbag MacAskell?

Thank God we had Churchill.

I have many friends in Germany mainly through doing business there for over 30 years, they're horrified that our country has been laid waste by Blair, Brown and Mandelson. Those Europeans used to respect us - this tiny Island - a bastion of truth, dignity and with backbone. What are we now, what have we become?

The receptor of the eastern european jail exodus, the home of the filthy lawless triads, the base for every Nigerian scam going and the home of any and every lawless rapist who wishes to come here. Has anyone else noticed it's always males at the French ports? What do they do about their 'natural feelings' when British women don't want them? Has anyone looked at the crime figures lately for rapes committed by eastern europeans in what was once Great Britain?

Brown could salvage something from all of this - he could do the decent thing and resign but that bast*rd won't!

Can you explain how Gordon Brown allowed the Scots to disgrace the UK?

Scotland votes in its leaders and currently is a hung government but controlled by the SNP.

It is strange that many of those outraged by the release of Megrahi actually campaigned for the compassion law to be used for Ronnie Biggs. And rightly or wrongly the same law could be used to free Ian Huntley if he was dying.

You cant have it all ways. Me I have always said that compassion should not be considered when releasing prisoners.

The answer has to be !No!Here you have the classic example of a political cretin who fooled most people in his student days as a future 'high flyer'The tragedy of this is!He took in people of the calibre the late John Smith and Denis Healey! What must they honestly be thinking now!Could it be!My forecasts were hopelessly 'flawed'!As soon as they obtain a place in 'The Crooked House'(The House of Commons) they build up a power base of fellow cretins! What is the result! As soon as they get Prime minister they appoint fellow political cretins to ministerial positions! The final result is! Good raw talent is left on the 'back benches' whilst the Brown cronies reign!IWe are living in the timeof! The rise of 'The Mediocrity'Is this something for an honest government to be proud of?

Gordon Brown did not allow the Scot's to do anything.. the Scottish justice minister who has authority for Scottish justice decided.

There is a good chance this dying man would have won his appeal... on that ground alone I am proud of Scotland for not bending over for the yanks yet again - like the rest of the UK seems happy to do

Edit : Sorry Angel below you don't seem to have a clue what Scotland has control off...very little England and westminister still dictate to us on many issues... including the nuclear subs they have parked next door to me... now deary would you like them back in the Thames or the Avon or the Severn.. no just fecking dump them in scotland...or and take all the other natural resources while you are there and then B1TCH about how hard it is to be English when the English government have all but destroyed Scottish industry..b1tch about how Scotland dictates to England when England has raped Scotland for all its worth for CENTURIES... to line their own pockets..... that is all

i believe he has been known to put his shoes on the right feet. apart from that ive not noticed him doing anything right.

i think ronnie biggs was released on compassionate grounds to justify the release of the lockerbie bomber who was released to help the proceedings of an oil deal.

gordon is keeping out of the way so he can say "it was nothing to do with me". any other decent prime minister would take a day off from his holidays to come forward to put things right. but no. not gordon.

If his aim as chancellor of the exchequer and Prime Minister was to run the country into the ground then it can safely be said that he's been 100% successful!

Brown and Mandelson have really messed up big time with this one,it is so obviously a typically twisted, convulated ,devious and totally inane plot that i am amazed the media have,nt seized on this fact.Brown away, stand in rulers farce,Mandelsons well timed operation, who are they kidding ?I have not talked to one person who is not aware of this being a government black op. for the gas and oil reserves .

The half wit is guilty as charged, take him down.

Edit: can I strongly suggest that you click little weeds link, where Gaddafi calls Gordon Brown "my friend". This shows the depth that this government will plunge, for their thirty pieces of silver.

As already said Gordon Brown has nothing to do with Scottish law and what is wrong with the letter would you rather he did nothing or are you just so racist that you will complain no matter what because you have a preoccupation with hating Scotland?

You seem not to understand the way things work. Brown did not 'allow' the Scots to do it, he had no power to stop them. Brown had no more authority over that decision than he would have had if it had been the Greeks making it.

The devolved Scottish government had sole and absolute control over the decision. No matter how much Brown wanted to stop it, if indeed he did, he simply was not in a position to do so.

In my opinion, the only thing he could do right would be to consider what he has done to the UK, and then shoot himself in the head after a stiff drink.

calling a general election would be a start

The Scots have there own Parliament, nothing to do with the British Government.

Gordon Brown had nothing to do with it,
