Why does Israel like to throw out the 'anti-semitic' tag the minute they attract any criticism?

It's like their 'get out of jail free' card .......... that and the 'Remember what happened to us 70 years ago' card as well.

because many who attack israel are anti semitic and it is the real motivation for their attacks

i see some cunning people say i don't have a problem with jews just zionists ....but did they differentiate between jews and zionists when they attacked jewish businesses in england during the attacks on gaza last year.....errrno...

and these same people are the first to say that all muslims shouldn't be blamed for muslim terrorist atrocitieis.....and then they go and support muslim terrorists when they attack israel

you get the nutjobs who say that arabs are semites too etc etc but the term is considered an appropriate one to describe anti jewish attacks and hatred

so the answer to your question is ....no they don't.....their enemies like to say they do....

and it is only the enemies of israel and those who hate jews who always make light of the holocaust....but of course they are disgusting individuals who have no valid argument to make on the subject and are steeped in hatred

clear enough?

Many times criticism of Israel is followed by statements about generalizing the Jews. This is racist and there is no question about it.

along with the fact that usually criticism of Israel is a hypocrite criticism of double standards. Because the US stopped Russian ships on the way to Cuba in international waters and it was fine.

Turkey killed 1.5 million Armenian civilians in 1915 and it was fine.

Turkey is occupying a part of Cyprus and its fine.

Turkey is killing Kurds in the hundreds of thousands if not millions and its also fine.

Iran is producing nuclear weapons but is ignored when calling for a middle east with no nuclear weapons because it is acceptable that a radical muslim country that claims to want to destroy another country will hold nuclear weapons.

Muslims are killing millions in Sudan but it is fine, because the people doing the killing are muslim.

Radical muslims burn US flags in the streets of New York and its completely acceptable because it is a democratic country.

Sheiks and Imams say that Islam will control the west, the white house will become the black house (Kaaba), that Islam will conquer Rome just as it conquered Constantinople and it is all fine because we live in a free world and free speech is more important than common sense and human rights, but imagine an Israeli prime minister today in 2010 saying to the world that all muslims should die and that the Jews will control Gaza just as they control Jerusalem.

The world is FULL of double standards and Israel is always singled out.

They throw out the "anti-semetic card"...because there is most certainly a hatred against the Jews and Israel...an irrational hatred that has been drumed up over the centuries by rival religions..ie Catholisism, including most, but not all protestant religions, and of course Islam! This irrational hatred still exists to this very day! Some people in "Western" countries whould actually prefer to side with those who whould impose their backward 7th century religion on all of us if they could!

Regarding what happened during the second world war...there are litteraly millions of Jews alive today who's parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents, uncles and aunts, cousins ect, ect..who were mercilessly murdered at that time. You patheticly just dismiss the whole tragedy as a "card"!

"Michele....your answer is spot on!

"Wiseguy" It makes me proud to be an Australian to see that Australia had the courage to vote against that UN resolution!

Can't really answer your particular question, as even that woiuld be seen as 'anti-semitic', but here's a stormer...why, when countries who have 'special friendships' with the USA send in their armies to crush enemies for the most oddest reasons, questioners here on Y!A will get mostly answers overflowing with Wikipedia statistics from the defenders? Not the reasons why governments shout 'Go Go Go!!', but Wikipedia numbers for only half the story?

We can't possibly know what it feels like for them to know that millions sat back and did nothing when millions died, just for being Jews.

However, it is time to put that behind them as many people as you say shout "anti-semite" whenever anything negative is said. Someone told me I was the other day - which was news to me. I disagree with the workings of the Israeli army and some of the policies of the government - but I have nothing against Jewish people, not at all.

I see the Israeli propagandists are still out in force on here. Guess what chaps? No one believes you. The endgame for Israel's brutality is here:

"Israel's ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, has compared the Gaza flotilla attack with America's fight against Nazi Germany in the Second World War." (!)

Watching the footage of the protest outside the Israeli Embassy in London, it was striking to see Orthodox Jewish people among the protesters. It is always encouraging to know that many Jews, including some living in Israel, are opposed to the strong-arm tactics taken by Israel.

Their bleats of antisemitism is an attempt to blur the few things that are already crystal clear:

1-The Israeli action was illegal.

2-The Israeli action was violent.

3-The Israeli action had the purpose of maintaining a blockade which is itself criminal and inhuman.

Not even Somali Pirates would act in such a manner.

Because it's true,no one seems to criticise hamas for constantly bombarding Israel day after day after day but when Israel understandably asks a ship (crewed by hamas supporters) to pull in and inspect it's cargo for possible weapons the world is in uproar.

If the term 'antisemitic' refer to hatred of semitic people, including both Jews and Arabs, that makes many Israelis and their supporters virulent antisemites,

Used by Zionists. it usually means they have been caught behaving badly again and have no excuse for their actions.

Just like Michelle does up there ^

Israel continously refuses to settle the conflict under international law.

Every year the United Nations General Assembly votes on a diplomatic settlement of the Israel-Palestine conflict. Israel votes against it EVERY time!

This is the result of the vote in July 2009.

The draft resolution on Peaceful Settlement (document A/64/L.23) was adopted by a recorded vote of 164 in favour to 7 against, with 4 abstentions, as follows:

In favour: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Chad, Chile, China, Colombia, Comoros, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Denmark, Djibouti, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Guatemala, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Malta, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United Republic of Tanzania, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Viet Nam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Against: Australia, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, Palau, United States.

Now anyone is going to have a tought time convincing me that all the countries above that seek a diplomatic solution, are in fact Anti-Semitic.

It seems to me the very presence of the holocaust as the founding principle of so many dynamics in Israeli society, eventually nihilates so many moral considerations. The attitude of many Israelis seem to be :

" The reality in Gaza is awful... but it's not gas chamber... it's not a holocaust. It is bad... it's a drama for them, but our drama was a lot bigger... it's not a gas chamber, so if it's not the gas chamber... it's OK."

Edit: Anne S - the Palestinian Israeli conflict is a political one not a religious one. I would like to remind you that many Palestinians are Christians, and the Popular front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) is a mainly Christian organisation, and considered the most militant.

Edit - Closer to the Edge: don't get your hopes up Australians have the sense some times to vote in favour of a DIPLOMATIC resolution.

Why?

Because it works.

Nothing has people running for cover more than being accused of anti-semitism.

It will continue to work as long as the international community continue to allow them to do this

If the world was a school and all the countries students then Israel would be the fat ginger smelly bully who only gets away with it because his older brother (America) is still in the school having been kept back several years.
