Anything that acknowledges the actuality of the market combined with availability and demand.

Coke, Pepsi, probably Hostess after their debut (I mean, you know every opening day spikes. You can't say even a point. EVERY opening day where it's announced on cnn COME ON).

Then followed up with Sony and Xbox and maybe Microsoft but that stuff is expencive.

Then, according to walmart store shelves. Cambles soup, Nestles (drumsticks are selling).

Jack in the Box and Carls Jr both came up with new items and gained value and so did the place with the pretzel bun (maybe wendys).

Both Mcdonalds and Burgerking have lost business to those chains because few people see a difference in quarterpounders. But so many people eat that crap.

Netflix and amazon for sure. Followed up by the UFC's companies that are associated as well as the marketing from the gyms. Tito Ortiz doesn't just fight he runs different businesses as well and those all get funded some how so they gotta be making money with those weird energy drinks and shirts .

3/10 people have a tap out shirt on.

Some times more and it's a trend that's still there.

All of these companies, oh yeah Little Ceaser as well. All have one common trait.

All the people below the 30k earning level basically live off that, maybe not literally. But people can cut out starbucks, but when they work as hard as has been the trend this year, it explains the spikes in profits.

Maybe it's not so vast the charts are busting.

But if you had those stocks before they rose it would have been awesome. Good reputation if your looking at just the word brand.

Because a business isn't a brand and I don't associate actual reputations of the business with the reputation of the brand because the brand is a solid immovable thing the business is a fluid forever creating environment. Two totally separate things. The majority of these companys have terrible real reputations because none of them can acknowledge the actuality of the public and their authentic earning capacity. Profits never get cut to help the workers, only to increase the shares.

And until some company treats it's employees like the Quest family did Race Bannon. Then it will never, ever be worth it to work for less then 30k a year. And eventually civil rights are going to bankrupt these companies and then the trends will change.

But it's important to see that difference or else when things go great, and all of a sudden they do not go great. It's a huge shock unless you can see things catching up with them.

Like Walmart. Enron peaked at about 70ish dollars before the crap hit the fan and all the people who wanted to totally tripped Enron on it's face. Then the whistleblowers were covered up and lol those guys defended them selves. Lost the case.

Walmart just really hit 70ish dollars. There is no way ragonomics will allow for this, it's a bell curve. Ragonomics states, that according to the 3rd law of thermodynamics, all energy is one big amount spread over a large area and it must balance equally so you can put the right amount here or there.

There is only so much cash (according to the people with the cash on cnn and other places they want us to believe). So, if there is only X how do they plan on getting Y?

The only way would be to buy all the other brands in the entire free market. Become a giant gang or something and then play the market like the great Gatsby or some nonsense. I can't wait though.

Every single brand made in America is superior to any other brands in the world

It is only the very aggressive ad campaigns of other countries brandind virtually brainwashing the American consumer into believeing otherwise!

Prime example is the auto industry

Every single auto magazine has for years told us how superior foreign cars are over American made cars and trucks

But the truth is that if for not the foreign car makers advertising dollars, those trusted names like Motortrend, Car and Driver, Road and Track, Automibile and others would have gone belly up.

So if you were depending on someone's money for your existance, would you promote them or pan them.

The old saying is old because its true. YOU DON'T BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU!

Buy a Ford or GM product and make America strong again.

Stop shopping at the big box stores where every single product is MADE IN CHINA!

Give Americans a chance to make what we need here!

That's the way to prosperity again

Put AMERICANS BACK TO WORK!

We are the worlds biggest buyers of everything

THAT'S POWER

Its hard too say because mostly everything thing is manufactured in china or owned by foreign companies. However, there has been a comeback in recent years for the American auto industry such as ford. In the 80's when Japanese autos didn't make there mark in the states, GM, Ford and Chrysler dominated the market, but unfortunately this led to low quality cars and the American people were stuck with lemons after 100k miles. But when Toyota, Honda and Nissan came into the picture and these cars proved there mark , things changed and the American auto industry was left in limbo...

1) ford came a long way and proved now there cars are just as good as the japs.

2).. where the beef? the beef in the UNITED STATES in incredible-> steaks...I,ve been to other countries for example and had there steaks and it was awful.

3).. I LOVE COSTCO... The Seattle based company-> great prices and service with good quality merchandise

4).. COCA COLA-> other countries tried to compare it with the U.S but its not the same.

5).. google...tremendous information and knowledge.

So I would say my top 5 American brands or services

are the following ( not in order)

Ford

American BEEF ( steaks and burgers) not fastfood!

Coca-Cola

Costco's Kirkland Signature branded goods are very good and a decent deal. I think the only Kirkland brand disappointment I've experienced is their toilet paper which took a major hit in quality several years ago and still isn't close to Quilted Northern's level.

Cars that came from NUMMI were quite good, except that they were branded with various GM and Toyota names such as Prizm, Corolla, Nova, Vibe.

BrandIndex should also ask about the American brand with the worst reputation.

Sorry I can't see the list/video as its only allowed for people living in the US. So instead, here's the brands that me and some of my friends think have great reputation.

Ford, Chevrolet, General Electric, Apple, P & G, McDonalds, Rolex, Lacoste, and the one with the biggest rep goes to Nike. Almost everyone here has owned a fake or original pair of Nikes.

As a side note, most Asians practically worship every product from the US, as the products are a sign of high social status. And we kind of associated that most products made in US are very superior compared to others.

Ford, because the automobile was invented here and the Model T (not sure if that's the right name for it) was first invented by Henry Ford. Automobiles are one of the biggest money makers around the world and although Ford is no longer the leading car manufacturer, it still has a good reputation.

However, now that I think of it, my father used to own a Ford Lincoln Town Car that broke down three times, twice on the freeway, and Ford automobiles have many malfunctions and parts that break apart easily, so I'm not sure if I would say this brand has a good reputation today. It used to in the past, but not now.

Google, Yahoo!, Apple, and other such silicon valley based companies are great ones, as are Zuckerberg's Facebook, and Mac PCs.

I'm not sure if it falls under american brand, but family fitness has a seemingly impervious reputation. It's got the whole health thing going for it, but doesn't yet have the image of a place like Gold's Gym, which is perpetualized to be full of bovine-like men lifting weights.

Also it has the family aspect. Which plays into the Average Joe's Gym montage like in the movie "Dodgeball : A True Underdog Story"

What about Levi's?

They've been around a long time (by American standards). People generally trust their product - some of the best made jeans to this day!

Other companies from more recent times? I'd have to say American Apparel. They seem to be conscious of where they source their materials. The clothing is made here in the U.S. And they contribute to worldwide causes. I don't have the list with me of all their practices, but I have read a lot of their practices. And I like it!

Nike. First of all, Nike is a well-known brand world-wide. It make hundred of items such as shoes for all kind of activities, jerseys, shorts, shirts, pants, and shoes. Nike is also mostly known for it's shoes, shoes such as Nike Air-Max and more. Lastly, Nike is an American brand of which it has a good reputation for all the items it made over the years, although it might be expensive, and for sponsoring hundreds of sports team, mostly soccer. Therefore, Nike, an American brand do have a good reputation. and is now competing with other brands such as Adidas, Champion and Under Armor. Plus, the items from Nike is made from factory materials and not some kind of cheap one, which probably explain why their items is kind of expensive, but hey, it made of good materials and it last pretty long. Like the Nike Air-Max shoes I'm wearing, got them last year, and it still look brand new this year and work just fine.

Coca Cola - It's been around for years and managed to adapt it's brand portfolio to current consumer expectations. They've been successful for years too and are a top employer to tens of thousands of people over the globe. (health aspect aside)

Apple - Still considered an innovative company with a great branding / marketing team. Owning a part of the apple is still considered cool.

Google - Couldn't imagine day-to-day interent life without it's services. Also highly regarded as a top employer for it's world wide sites.

Hershey's - this brand has been so strong for so many years that they really don't need the kind of television barrage of branding that other companies do. People of all generations and cultural backgrounds recognize a Hershey bar when they see it in the market. That's the sign of an extremely strong brand.

Compared to other types of products, chocolate encourages strong positive feelings from all population categories. Other products may target smaller segments of the population, whereas everyone can eat a Hershey bar, even a diabetic when necessary. It's not like they are having to argue some moral or health issue like cigarettes or alcohol brands.

Hershey has not gone through the public relations fiascos of recalls like auto manufacturers or drug companies. Those products are more vulnerable to those kinds of threats to public trust in their product. They don't require any health risk labeling like cigarettes, alcohol, or drugs.

E-coli has had devastating impact on our food industry products but not Hershey chocolate. it remains unscathed.

Even our pop culture admits Hershey is one of the greatest brands we have. Mad Men had an episode with Don Draper and Hershey. The message was pretty strong - despite your experiences as a kid, getting a Hershey bar was an escape from whatever pain you were dealing with at that moment.

Hershey gets my vote, hands down.

2) Coca-Cola

3) McDonald's

4) General Motors

5)Nabisco Brands

6)Wonder Bread

7) Cadillac

8) Sony

9) Andersen Windows

10) Nathan Franks

I picked brands that can now sell products because of their name and history. I based some, like General Motors, on the fact that many from other leading manufacturing countries will still buy these American products and services. I based my choice of McDonald's and Coca-Cola on the fact that they symbolize American quality all over the world. I based Cadillac on the fact that its name is so synonymous with quality that any organization generating high quality or enjoying the fruits of an exceedingly good reputation is frequently called a Cadillac operation.

I based Nathan Franks on that fact that I have never heard a bad word about its superlative hot dogs. I have tasted the real ones from Coney Island, and they more than live up to the reputation. I am still hearing good things about this product.

For me it is Microsoft that has the best reputation. I know that your link does not contain Microsoft. But think of it, Microsoft changed the world with their windows operating system. Everyone worldwide from east to west has grown up using microsoft windows. In fact I am very sure that 99% of the answers here, are using windows OS.

Microsoft also makes windows phone which is great alternative to iphone and android. They donate to charitable organizations a lot too.

I Believe it would be Ford. Because they have been making attractive cars with attractive prices for almost a decade. So therefore i believe that ford is the candidate for the future of the automotive industry.

Google because they seem to make decent products and they try to create some things that are environmentally friendly. Who knows what they are up to. It has won a a bunch of awards for being a great place to work. They are starting to manufacture phones in the US. They helped Marrissa Myer become the leader at Yahoo. PBS, Whole Foods, Panera Bread, Wegmans, L.L. Bean, Kholer, Peet's Coffee & Tea, Wigwam. These are American brands that I think have a good reputation because they're good at what they do. For the most part they accept their humble size and don't sacrifice quality in an attempt to dominate the planet. Most American brands these days are just goliath monsters that don't care about customer satisfaction. Perfect example is American Airlines, which treats its customers like dirt. They don't deserve to fly the US flag on their planes.

Bonobos because they're a great online business and sell very nice clothing. They offer free shipping and returns on everything. To this end, I love Zappos.com too because they offer free shipping and hassle-free returns. Among many others I particularly admire the great job done through many years by Consumer Report, Automotive segment. Having had a life experience in the retailing of new cars, to me it was simply amazing the accuracy of their unbiased reporting of various cars and trucks of all the nameplates available in the US market. Construction/tools: Kohler (small engines), Manitowoc Cranes, American Crane, Linkbelt hydraulic cranes, Snapper, Snap-On, Stihl, Ingersoll-Rand, Case (knives), Allis Chalmers (now Fiat-Allis), International Harvester, Skil, Black & Decker, Red Devil, PPG (Pittsburgh Plate Glass), Rinker, Quikrete.

Office: 3M (also the best electrical tape), Eagle pencils, Parker Pens, Fisher Pens, Post-It, Xerox, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Papermate, Royal, Brother, Underwood, Swingline.

Home: Clorox, Kleenex, 409, Maytag, Tappan, Amana, Oster, Sunbeam, KitchenAid, Singer, Smuckers, Planters, Rubbermaid, Pyrex, Tupperware, Dr. Pepper, Nehi, Honeywell, Levolor, American Standard, Kohler (fixtures), Crisco, Saltines, Gerber's, Q-Tips, Pringles, Lays, Lipton, Maxwell House, Folgers, Breyers, Bayer, Alka-Seltzer, Land-O-Lakes, Morton, Pillsbury, Green Giant, Smith Brothers (cough drops), Ipana, Pepsodent, Gillette Blue-Blade, Brylcreem, Vitalis, Aqua-Velva, Eskimo Pie, Butterfinger, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Clothing: Stetson, Florsheim, Converse, Keds, Vans, Maidenform, Bulova, Timex, Jockey, Lee, Gore-Tex, Playtex, Russell, Sebago, Bass, Brooks Brothers, London Fog, Georgia Boot, Rayban sunglasses, Hushpuppies, Fruit of the Loom, BVD.

Sports/Hobbies/Toys: Bee (diamondback playing cards), Wilson, Rawlings, Spalding, Louisville Slugger, Ping, Taylor-Made, Lionel, Mattel, Hasbro, Milton-Bradley, Hula-Hoop, Wham-O/Frisbee, Duncan (Yo-yo), Shakespeare (fishing reels), Barbie, Polaroid, Bell & Howell (Super 8 home movie cameras/projectors), Brunswick, Daisy, Aqualung.

Eating out/Grocery stores/movie snacks: Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut, Cracker Barrel, Howard Johnson's (early franchise/roadstop favorite), Red Lobster, IHOP, A&W, Royal Castle/White Castle (two different chains with similar products), Waffle House, The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea company (later known as A&P), Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Jujubes, Good and Plenty, Red Hots, Junior Mints, Milk Duds, Cracker Jack.

Why?: Most have, or have had, top-notch, durable, well-made/superior goods/services in their field - generally recognized as such by those who use them. Some products were added mainly because of popularity/brand recognition. I saw no indication of whether this should be "current" or not - and "currently" many vintage items have better reputations than current similar items . . . guitars in general, vintage electronics in general, etc. Some of these I personally do not prefer, for instance: I will take a Rubbermaid product over Tupperware virtually anytime, but Tupperware had a huge impact when they started and were iconic in their own way.

Guess that's about too many by now and starting to strain my brain. Trying to only put down top/iconic brands that have not already been mentioned (difficult to read/remember every one that has been put down already, but I'm trying).

Edited for content and structure. I have tried to look up any that I was unsure whether they were American or not (Yoplait was 1/2 American so I deleted it), but I went mostly by my own beliefs here - sorry if I was wrong about that on any.

Amazon - I trust Amazon as a retailer and their own branded ereaders. I love my Paperwhite (my 3rd Kindle and all 3 are still working - loaned one to my father in law).

May not be on the list:

Trader Joe's - Trader Joe's is a great American small grocery store. Almost everything in it is Trader Joe's own brand (made by other companies for them). They taste test everything and chose the best. They avoid food with additives. Even a simple thing like their canned corn is fantastic - sweet and crispy like it just came off an ear of corn - you may even find a bit of corn silk in the can. Their whole grain Dijon mustard is made IN Dijon, France and is very good. They have lots of great international foods. Their Thai Shrimp Gyozo (potstickers) are great and include little chunks of shrimp and veggies, good with their Gyozu dipping sauce.

McDonalds simply because it's the best fast food, pretty much a household name because of speed, quality of service, quality of food, good price. Minor Negatives are from lazy, fat blobs who try and cash-in ie 40 stone but for the average person who understands diet, limits and excercise, mcd's rarely fails to impress as a well deserved, indulgent treat

Electronics: Apple- Best consumer electronics. Well built, easy to use, cool-factor, great looking. Poor people whine about "they are hard to fix" and they have to be upgraded constantly but if you can afford it, it's not a big deal. I think Beats by Dr Dre is a close second, with the same reasons listed above.

Clothes: I've been a fan of Ralph Lauren because of the quality of their garments and style but recently poor people have been wearing it and bragging about it in the tackiest and most philistine of ways--it's gone down significantly in my opinion. That being said, probably Tommy Hilfigher (until the ghetto kids start to touch it and brag about it)

Cars: Hahaha no. Domestic cars are the cheapest, ugliest things on the market. They lack the class and cool factor of domestic options. I'd give the award to Mercedes Benz however they of course aren't an American company :(

Misc: I'm a fan of Starbucks, they have great food and drinks in nice environments to sit in

That's all I can think off the top of my head at the moment, I'll edit when I can think of more!

Great question

Uniquely American Universities from Swarthmore, Harvard to land grant Universities like University of Wisconsin, Ohio State et.al. Certainly Rennsyelar Polytech Institute out of New York and MIT in Boston are rated among the best engineering schools on the globe. As to why, I can give two examples that apply in someway to the others. No less than 24 US Presidents are graduates from either Yale of Harvard.

Harley Davidson and Jeep, again uniquely American culture. These are iconic brands because they have literally successfully been through wars all over the world. Their reputations precede them and their feats are legendary. Why so? From the image of a posing James Dean leaning against a Harley to Patton standing up in a Jeep Willy headed north. These examples underscore why these brands are among the best reputation.

Apple. I am sure many have already explained, so ditto.

Bose sourced out of MIT from the handy work of Dr. Amar Bose. What is of good reputation about Bose is that its headquarters are remain in America, it is rooted at MIT per Dr. Bose and the American worker still builds it. It is for this reason Bose costs more. The American worker gets paid more than their Chinese counter part.

For your consideration, I would nominate Newman's Own (developed by Paul Newman). I have never heard a single complaint about them, they have high quality product and a portion of all of their sales is donated to charities.

Also, the Newman's Own Foundation gives grants to:

* Organizations that promote the practice of philanthropy and/or rely on philanthropic support to fulfill their missions.

* Organizations enhancing the quality of life for children with life-limiting medical conditions, and/or for whom the experience of childhood has been disrupted by circumstances beyond their control.

* Organizations that empower people to overcome extraordinary adverse circumstances, and/or provide equal access to human rights and contribute to the development of a civil society.

* Organizations implementing model solutions to issues of hunger and nutrition for underserved communities.

Foreign cars, like Toyota and Honda, have many American component suppliers... but they aren't an "American" brand. Ford, GM and Chrysler outsource much of their work overseas... some are "assembled in the USA", but not all. So really, they're just based in the US, but they're not an All-American brands.

Since I float around the Golf section, here's my choice: Cell Parts. They make ferrules- the little plastic piece that's right above the hosel. Made in the USA, can make almost anything you can dream of and incredible customer service. They're only downside is they aren't a household name... even in the golf community.

Oh, I'd probably say Proctor and Gamble. The list of brand names they own and have owned goes on for a while. Here are a few of the notable ones: Gillette, Pampers, Duracell, Charmin, Pringles, Charmin.

I say they have a good reputation because I believe any company that constantly reinvests in new areas in order to expand itself outside its current industry is good. It's good for the economy, it's good for jobs and it really is easier to launch a product and keep it alive longer when it is backed by a giant name like P&G.

Why limit discussion to just 10 brands? How about brands of news service? Like Fox, MSNBC, etc. For news I'd pick infowars.com because they have earned their reputation as the web's top news source (called alternative news) because their reporters are willing to ask the tough and sometimes forbidden questions. Remember the interview with the Massachusetts governor after the marathon bombings? There was one reporter asking about the possibility of a false flag. They didn't want to answer and shut down the news session early. It was an Infowars reporter asking the hard question there! that's not an isolated example either. Drudge Report (the top content farm) has released many of infowars articles because of their high credibility. It was infowars that broke the TSA scandal (with Drudge picking it up) that turned it into a major issue. The other news services Fox, CNBC, CNN, whatever have gotten lazy and are resting on their laurels and are no longer cutting edge. So I vote a resounding yes to the Infowars brand of having a good reputation in the arena of news service!

Some of the better paid brands such as Fedex have a higher rating than TWC.

In my opinion it is because TWC is simply paid not as much as it should be.

Somethings in life such as apple computers are priced way to high, but charging high means being paid highly. This money travels down (rightly) to good customer service which influences consumer ratings. (something all companies should focus on)

Also, delta airlines and united (untied.com) and the direction of airline service is in danger. There is just a way too high demand which brought rise to the "cattle" class. Airline service suffers in buying all its necessary resources due to inflation or missed biddings on fuel. But Oh well. They try to compensate by cutting costs by providing less amenities or altering flight schedules so late that they service neither dinner nor breakfast and expect you to sleep instead.

TWC's customer service is infamous, yet everyone needs a fair priced internet service and connection as a nowadays basic need. But it's not only TWC. Comcast, Verizon Fios, and etc. suffer while Apple and Microsoft get generally good/better reps. These internet service providers (TWC/comcast) need to advertise against competitors, troubleshoot in the homes of millions of people, provide customer service, maintain connection points, maintain website and billing from millions and probably more but I don't work for them.

Among the listed, I think amazon and kindle are pretty high up there because most customers buy what they want as opposed to need on Amazon, such as toys. Also, amazon will mostly likely have what you need as well such as light bulbs. And they're all ready to buy if it's listed.

Amazon was smart to make a wish list button on a user's account because having a list of wants is temptation in itself which sometimes is eventually bought and helps get things sold.

Also, amazon has a pretty good resource strategy. IN my opinion, they take away a kind of high % cut, but they give you 3.99 standard shipping that you can alter. If the seller didn't alter the shipping rate, then the seller is expected by Amazon-contract to ship it themselves by whatever rate. This goes for a book as well as a bike. In a large sense, amazon benefits from making shipping the seller's responsibility because amazon doesn't have to pay for its own man power (unless it's amazon prime).

Amazon also has a great return policy. Customers can send something back if they are not satisfied, and if they dislike the item, they are free to say so in their reviews. Any negative review is blamed to the individual seller less so to Amazon itself.

But it's a good trade off for the seller as well. Anyone of virtually any age has a means to sell something that they don't need so long as they have an account. They don't need to set up a store, and their customers are the world. Also, the world's people who are willing customers can specify their search so that Amazon directly caters to a certain group of a type of customer by bringing them to specific sellers.

And when it's prime, Amazon probably pays for bulk shipping with everything else that needs to be sent.

Both kindle and amazon are great for having a wide variety of choices and for a user to be able to find almost anything (usually non-perishable) on the site. Now that IS customer appreciation. Amazon also caters to a virtually any age customer-target range.

And among the rest, Cheerios is a consumer's choice in cereal as V8 is a choice in drink and history is a choice in channel. For this reason they aren't being as forced on to the population to be evaluate as a need. The population exhibits some non-philosophical aspect of "free-will." So the people you are asking to talk on behalf of the history channel is in the minority of people who choose to watch the history channel.

Youtube was pretty good, but I think their reputation is declining due to increased advertising. I agree that they use a lot of bandwidth and must pay for it, but personally, I feel the rate of ads shown increases faster than the population of people who watch youtube videos.

Lowes and Walgreen are also good. I think it was more of a matter of advertising that they are customer service oriented. (esp Lowes commercials)

I agree with the list of which brands have a good reputation, but I would put Amazon at the top of the list from my reasoning and personal experience. They also cater to both their sellers and customers without having to pay for needed resources as TWC or United that accounts for their subpar customer service. Apple is good in my opinion as well, but they're very closely compared to the better aspects of their competitors's technology in a rapidly growing technological age.

There are lots of good brands out there that are either loved, or hated. Apple and Ford are examples of this. But if you want a brand that people will swear by and almost nobody will hate on, it's companies like Google, Valve (and their Steam service), and Amazon. Almost all of the brands listed in that video are either brands that nobody cares about, or brands that are divisive. I bash on the History channel, and Chevy owners love bashing on Ford.

It's really hard to know which brands are really american and which are foreign since many are foreign I really don't know for sure. we're just customers, I mean, we don't know all the history and background of companies/brands, etc. I'll give it a shot.

I got in my list mostly clothing brands.

champion: they got one the greatest sportswear stuff for a decent price. their stuff is really good quality.

gap: they got very understated styles, but really sleak, clean, and cool.sometimes it might a little pricey though.

ralph lauren: they also got very sleak, clean, fresh styles and their quality is amazing. its really pricey though.

vans: they got that street wear vibe style you don't find in many other brands.they got some very unique styles when it comes to footwear.they're usually not pricey.

new era: they the masters and number one of headwear. their hats got the best fit on the market for sure. they're durable and fresh. a little expensive though.

nike: they're really innovative and are in almost all sports events around the world. they're stuff is really really popular among people. For the most part, its not that expensive.

dickies: they're kinda cheap and their stuff is really good. excellent quality and really clean styles.

starter: they got really tight stuff and its not expensive for the most part.they make great jackets and sportswear.

dc shoes: their style is kinda street wear with a mix of little hiphop. it supports action sports. they really innovative and got really good quality.their prices are kinda fair.its a popular brand.

oakley: known mostly for their eyewear stuff. its really pricey, but got great quality. i love their clothing and accessories. its quiet innovative.

billabong: they make great unique fresh clothes and accessories.they support action sports.they're environment friendly since they sometimes use recycled fabrics to make their clothes. they're also working together with some foundations taking care of the environment.its not that expensive.

I think any brand that is going to mass produce products in China is not the best in my book. General Electric used to be an excellent company back in the day. As far as modern companies go, I like Vornado. Their product seem to have a very good built quality and performance, they also have excellent customer service and warranties.

I know they are a very small company, but even if its small, it can still have a perfect reputation over larger companies that are very popular.

American Apparel, here's some reasons why:

They don't outsource labor to other countries.

They raise money and donate clothes for victims of natural disasters including the earthquake in Haiti and hurricane Katrina.

They raise money for children's homeless shelters.

The donate shirts to Farm Aid.

They pay their workers better than most clothing companies. Their factory workers are paid more than triple what most other Los Angeles based clothes companies pay their workers.

Their workers are also given health care, bus passes, paid time off, English as a second language classes, massage therapists, bicycles, and free parking.

They save excess fabrics to make other products.

They produce vegan friendly products.

They use organic cotton.

They use solar panels to save energy.

Plus their products are pretty nice.

A very dangerous question to ask, My Friends.

Any global brand with a "great reputation" will be counterfeited by the Mainland Chinese.

(And, if you think that that isn't the truth, then... Think again.)

So... can we keep this subject just a little more secretive please?

A firm with a great reputation that CANNOT be copied by China is:

The Boeing Company!

The PRC might be trying to make its own 737 and 767, but who is stupid enough to buy a "Made in China" airliner from a country in which cultural/economic/political barriers each preclude the application of Quality Assurance principles?

Heck, even the USA had to learn from W. Edwards Deming's effort in JAPAN! Do you think the Chinese are going to embrace something that came out of Japan??? Doh!

PRC: "Quantity First!"

Boeing: "Quality First!"

In simplest terms: "Haste makes waste! However, if you make enough of it, then some schmuck will surely show up to buy your garbage... if you lie loudly about its finer points."

New Balance is a great company that makes great products. I have had many brands of shoes and only a handful have impressed me. On the top of the list is New Balance. They are American made durable and comfortable shoes at good prices. I love these guys.

Sportswear:

Champion is great they make sportswear which is durable, comfortable and they are an American tradition.

Food:

Shane's Barbeque

God these guys are good.

Chik-Fil-A

Regardless of the scandal last year, the customer service is always great and so is the food. Also they like their employees.

Macy's. It's been around forever and has a good reputation, but expensive prices. ;)

I also believe Coke has a good reputation even though it is not a healthy beverage.

And Ford seems like it has a good rep.

America's brands are pretty great.
Leonard A
2013-07-12 14:51:50 UTC
its difficult to consider a brand as American because so many companies are owned wholly or in part by foreign interests. Coors ,Anheuser Busch , Miller ...... all owned by foreign countries.

Strangely enough , Toyota which has been building in the USA for years would be the only one I would consider as American and with quality and reputation backing its name.
?
2013-07-12 14:45:52 UTC
I think that Apple has a good reputation as a company, and I have many reasons for that. Apple makes quality products. Although they are expensive, they are made precisely and carefully, with not a detail missing. They're products work perfectly if used the right way, so it's usually the consumer's fault if something bad happens. Apple has made many innovative things, starting with the Mac to the iPhone. So when someone thinks of a smartphone, the iPhone will almost instantly come to mind. That shows that Apple has a good reputation, not only in the United States, but around the world.
